Airport Security Should Be Profiling Arabs(Ann Coulter)
Human Events Online ^ | Nov 29, 2006 | Ann Coulter

The six imams removed from a US Airways flight last week have apparently adopted my suggestion that if they really want to protest the airline, instead of boycotting US Airways, they should start flying it frequently.

The spokesman for the imams -- or as I believe it's phrased in their culture, "designated liar" -- Omar Shahin, staged a protest at Reagan Washington National Airport on Monday, after which, according to the Associated Press, "he and other religious leaders boarded a US Airways flight to demonstrate their determination to continue praying and flying."

The original six imams removed from the flight last week first attracted attention when they said prayers to Allah on traditional Muslim prayer rugs in the boarding area. After boarding, they changed seats, spreading themselves throughout the plane. They were also overheard spouting anti-American rhetoric. Witnesses said the six men appeared to be either Islamic fanatics or U.S. Army chaplains on leave from Guantanamo.

Following the lead of FEMA in keeping Americans safe, the Homeland Security Department's Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties is investigating the removal of the imams from the US Airways flight. (Talk about coincidences -- I'm currently investigating the removal of the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties from the Department of Homeland Security!)

Imam spokesman Shahin is a great example of why airport security ought to be profiling Arabs. Shahin's predecessor at the Islamic Center in Tucson was Osama bin Laden's financier and head of logistics -- until he was arrested in Saudi Arabia in 2002.

Instead of aggressively distinguishing himself from his terrorist predecessor, judging by news reports, Shahin spent the five years after 9/11 denying that Muslims were behind the attacks and complaining of phony anti-Islamic "hate crimes" -- as opposed to the pro-Islamic hate crimes he presumably endorses.

In 2003, for example, Shahin alleged that a woman in Arizona had thrown shoes at children at the mosque.

This is the most transparent hoax I've heard since, "If I did it, here's how I would have done it." This is like the joke about a speaker at an American communist rally opening with: "Workers and peasants of Brooklyn!" Shahin has so little insight into this country, he can't even invent a believable hate crime.

It's Arabs who have a thing about shoes being a sign of disrespect, not Americans. When Iraqis toppled the statue of Saddam Hussein, the crowd immediately pelted it with shoes. Saddam installed a mosaic of the first president Bush's face on the ground floor of his palace so that visitors would be forced to disrespect Bush by walking on his visage in their shoes.

Shahin himself couldn't get away from this pan-Arabic shoe fetish, adding: "The incidents of Muslims being attacked kind of shocked me in my shoes." Note to imams trying to fabricate hate crimes against Muslims: Americans don't share your shoe neurosis.

At Reagan National this week, Rabbis joined the Muslims at the prayer protest -- though one imagines they did not share this prayer from the Hadith: "And the Jews will hide behind the rock and tree, and the rock and tree will say: 'O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!'" In fairness, they usually save that one for the high holidays, like the "Festival of the Six Dead Jews" or "Honor Killing Week."

Nor this one, also from the Hadith: "The Prophet said: 'The Hour will not take place until the Muslims fight the Jews, and the Muslims kill them. The Muslims will kill the Jews. Rejoice! Rejoice in Allah's victory!'" (Is it just me, or might some fanatic twist those words into an excuse to kill Jews?)

Also strange was that the NAACP has piped in to complain about racial profiling of Muslims. The only reason Americans feel guilty about "racial profiling" against blacks is because of the history of discrimination against blacks in this country.

What did we do to the Arabs? I believe Americans are the victims in that relationship. After the attacks of 9/11, profiling Muslims is more like profiling the Klan.

The whole imam thing was a setup. They deliberately acted suspiciously on that flight for some unknown reason. Did they want to be thrown off? Probably. The big question is WHY.

There are two possible reasons that immediately suggest themselves. The most likely was what those of us who lived through the '60s remember as "guerrilla theater", a form of political protest and performance art in which one proves (for example) that the "pigs" are violent racists by provoking them (e.g. by spitting at them, by throwing urine or feces at them, by threatening them with violence, or by hurling vile insults at them) so that they will, it is hoped, "over-react" in a manner that will confer "victim" status on the initiator(s).

The other less likely possibility is that they are conducting reconnaissance for their compatriots in the jihadi movement (i.e. testing the reactions of the crew and passengers to see whether it's possible to venture back into the hijacking business). Now that I mention it, it's also possible that instead of "reconnaissance" per se, these clowns may also hope that their newfound "victimhood" will result in new legislation or regulations which will prevent crew members or other passengers from interfering in future jihadi operations.

"...demonstrate their determination to continue praying and flying."

Surely someone could manufacture a prayer-mat lined catapult?

Threats have been made that suggest the crazy muslims are working to attack America again. This time with nukes. If that were to happen then many if not most muslims and many people who happen to look like arabs will be targeted.
Right or wrong that is the truth and you can take that to the bank.
Not threatening here, just stating facts.

Profiling also includes recognizing patterns of behavior, location, as well as physical characteristics.

Serious arrests of drug smugglers on the highways were interrupted because the ACLU sued to stop the police from profiling.

What I would like to see is all airlines adopt the policy that if anyone - no matter the race, sex, or religious belief - is removed from a plane due to a disturbance they caused, they are never again allowed to fly on that airline.

The concept of not profiling has always baffled me. It's like saying there is a rape suspect in an area where five women have been raped. Their descriptions of the perp state he is dark complextion, black hair, black mustache, with an gold earring in his right ear. The cops are then told to drag all blonde, white guys in. It doesn't make sense not to profile when you have a description of those committing the crime.

Did anyone listen to Hannity's radio program yesterday. He spoke to a woman who was on the flight. She said these guys had press coverage from the get-go, as if they knew what would happen. It was a set-up from the get-go. If I was the head of US Airways, I would tell them to go ahead and sue. But then, everything comes out. The passenger witnesses, the airline employees, the history of the Inmans, everything. I bet they would back off most ricky-tic.

WHY would they do that?

I hate to say, but I'm leaning towards the "testing" hypothesis.

"hey guys. look what we did. and we didn't even get a wrist slap. so if you want to do practice runs, go right ahead, practice setting up your hijack a couple times before you really do it."

Terrorists aren't very creative. I don't think intelligence is really a big requisite for people blowing themselves up.

Does anybody remember the small private aircraft crashing on the white house lawn a couple years before the WTC attack? I remember watching a news story calling for greater air security in "high priority areas", saying things like "if that wasn't an accident, there could have been a lot of damage" and "how secure are our buildings". Not very creative at all.

Terrorists are simple. If it looks like they're trying to soften public opinion to create an opportunity to strike again, they probably are.

Italians in general look nothing at all like arabs.

In Persians you may have a point, but it seems that native Iranians seem to be able to tell the difference, and they aren't exactly kind to them in Iran.

The Greek family that I know would be insulted by your question, but I understand you point in asking if it was an honest question.

One more terrorist attack in America and "profiling" will be the least of their worries.

FReeper please. Should that happen, the media will be calling it an isolated incident and we just need to "understand" why muslims want to kill Americans. And it is likely the moslems will wait until the new Dem president (Hillary) is elected in '08 which will mean there will be a summit and France will get to weigh in on what the U.S. response should be when the next American-soil attack occurs.

I wouldn't let another one in and I would deport any that have ties to Mosques that give money to terrorists.

Yes, but our government handlers have already decided that isn't ever going to happen as, according to the those who decide these things (the media), they (the politicians) would be the worst, most disgusting, horrible thing in the world they could be---racists. The media truly believes a racist is far, far worse than a murderer, a pedophile or even a Conservative. Oh wait, the media thinks that last one is the same thing as a racist. My mistake.

I believe the purpose was to generate a lawsuit so the already ridiculous softness and "understanding" that mOslems are treated with are even more soft and unfettered.

The eventuallity is that unless an A-rab is wrapped in explosives and is carrying a detonator, it will be a federal crime to ask him what the purpose of his trip is and why he paid cash for a one-way ticket. Oh wait, that already is a federal crime. Oopsie.

What does this part even mean?

The reference is to the fact that the U.S. Army supplies the detainees (terrorists) at Guantanamo with islamic "chaplains" who have already been caught passing information to the terrorist's followers. Same with the U.S. provided attorney Lynn Stewart who is in jail for doing the same. You could probably do a search on FR and get a few threads to go over in regard to this.
