(11/29/06 - KTRK/KATY, TX) - There's an awful lot of exciting news when you round the corner on Baker Road. One of two big yellow signs announces a new neighbor is coming soon.
K.I.A., that's the Katy Islamic Association, plan to build a mosque here.
"It's not an appropriate place to have a mosque or church," said resident Barbara Simpson.
It isn't going over real well.
"As a house of worship, they shouldn't be disturbing the peace and tranquility of 15 homes," said resident John Wetmore.
Neighbors tell us they're concerned about traffic and drainage and a little fear of the unknown.
Some of the homeowners even offered to buy the land back for more than a million dollars.
The K.I.A. doesn't seem very interested in the offers.
"We're not going anywhere," said Katy Islamic Association member Alvi Muzfar.
So it seems the community at the end of Baker Road has a pretty good fight.
But this fight has gone much farther than many between two neighbors. You see in these fights, sometimes neighbors throw mud at one another, in this instance they're wallowing in it.
Craig Baker owns pigs.
He's the guy behind the second big yellow sign on Baker Road. That's the one announcing Friday night pig races.
"What does it matter, I can do whatever I want with my land right," asked landowner Craig Baker.
Sure can.
But aren't pigs on the property line racing on a Friday night a little offensive to a Muslim neighbor?
"The meat of a pig is prohibited in the religion of Islam," said Katy Islamic Association member Youssof Allam. "It's looked upon as a dirty creature."
Yeah there's that and also that Friday night is a Muslim holy day.
"That is definitely a slap in the face," said Allam..
Now before you go thinking Craig Baker is unfair, or full of hate, or somehow racist, hear him out.
Baker has long roots here, his family named the road and when the new neighbors moved in, he tells us, they asked him to move out.
"Basically that I should package up my family and my business and find a place elsewhere," said Baker. "That's ridiculous, they just bought the place one week prior and he's telling me I should think about leaving." That new owners deny they ever said anything like that, but Baker isn't budging.
Baker admits the pigs are a message he is not leaving.
The 11-acre property is sandwiched between a pricey subdivision and Craig Baker's business.
K.I.A. eventually plans to build a mosque, a gym and a school there. There's no date for the groundbreaking ceremonies, or the first pig race.
. . .lol. . .might even make 'grass grow'; in which case. . .
This group is already preparing it's lawsuits. . .hey. . .they might even claim. . .'eminent domain'.
When arrogance knows no bounds. . .be prepared for anything.
OTOH. ..they really do not like pigs. . .
They will build there mosque, in ten years from now the whole place will be crawling with muzzies. People will start to move out, and they will move in. I see no legal way to stop the take over of any one area.
They have always planed on the fact normal people with kids do not want be near a mosque and will move away. Note the school part for the 6 to 8 children each muzzie will have.
They don't like dogs either. Kennels!
Pig roast smell is too good of a treatment for muslim scumbags...
There was a dispute several years ago in rural Florida between pig farm owner and closeby neighboor who did not like the smell, well the farm owner stood for his rights and installed huge industrial fans blowing pig farm perfumed air toward the neighbours property to teach him a lesson. As the area was zoned agricultural the pig owner prevailed.
Install the fans and blow pig farm scent in ragheads direction!
I like the people in your area.
Good questions one and all. Here's another one, why are we allowing more Islamic fanatics into the US at a time when we are at war with radical Islam? And even if these aren't recently arrived radicals, why should they be allowed to destroy the peace and tranquility of an established American residential neighborhood with their foreign Satanic religion's house of demon worship?
In many American towns and cities newly organized Christian churches are zoned out of residential neighborhoods because of the traffic and noise that they would generate. Are Muslims above the law or are they more deserving of special exemptions from the zoning laws than Christians for some unknown reason?
If these intrusive Islamics are allowed to desecrate this slice of downhome America with a tower for their mullah to intone his 5 daily calls to prayer, the locals should see to it that some other equally obnoxious source of irritating noise pollution has free access to the ears of the unwanted Muslim faithful while they try to listen to their pagan religion's cleric drone on and on with blasphemous prayers to Allah, also known in the JudeoChristian bible as Satan, Beelzebub, Lucifer, and the Father of Lies.
Do I sound biased against Muslims? If so it's only because I can't abide seeing our once Christian nation being desecrated by foreign false religious cults such as the abomination created by a moon-god worshiping pedophile who met with demonic entities in a desert cave and then created a murderous religious cult according to the instructions he was given by those demons. I can be reasonably tolerant of other peaceful religious belief systems, but not of a murderous demonic death cult that has murdered and enslaved untold millions of victims over the course of the past 14 centuries, and is now itching to do the same to millions of Americans.
I say do anything and everything to annoy them. Maybe the smell of roast pig will convert them. I feel bad for this guy as I think whoever posted he could get hurt was right. I wouldn't want to see that. I am wondering how they were able to sneak into an area that plainly doesn't want them. Where I live they have to send letters to nearby neighbors even if you want to build an addition on your house let alone build something like a mosque. If the neighbors don't want the Muslims there they should go elsewhere. I am sick of kissing their butts. We get accused of hate crimes but they never seem to.
Webcams showing the mosque in the background during the races.
lol. . .but really, this is pathetic. I understand there are nice 'Muslims'. . .I just do not want to see mosques in the 'neighborhood; nor the 'rest of their story'. Have some big homes. . .maybe belong to the 'Imams' (?) being built in a very established, conservative neighborhood. These homes feel like a 'black eye' delivered everytime I pass them. They are so out of architectural 'synch'. . .time/place and for sure, architecture. . .they look like mosques themselves.
I think. . .'fine'. .for YOUR country.
Also know, we have not seen anything yet. . .compared to what is coming.
Those that can see are tortured by what may be coming down the pike.
Great idea. . .and grow 'big' pigs. . .
. . .but better start now. . .lest it look like it is . . . un-neighborly racism or somesuch. . .
I Could be pig are going to come into their own as pets or just 'game pigs'. . .; more than ever before. . .
Can hear it. . .'never thought I wanted one. . .but. . .'
Build dog kennels all around it!
No doubt, most here. . .feel the pain!
I frequently call people I know all over the country....most are tuned into the lastest crap on TV like Dancing with the Stars or some such....doesn't look to bright on the horizon.
Awesome!
Them pigs should be herded onto that property and allowed to defecate all over it.
My thinking is that Bush should have cleaned out all Democrats in high level possitions when he came into office....Clinton did.
Bush, however, is a compassionate Republican who left these people in to do their thing. We allowed 80,000 Muslims to legally immigrate here last year. But, you know of course, that the generally vote Democrat!
. . .no - in many ways it does not. Just having Bush made a fool out of today; and so many not caring. . .and Danny Devito doing his loathesome schtick; all disheartening; because it is not only dangerous; and ugly respectively; it speaks to the meanest; spirit and one that so many, ignorantly embrace. (A 'spirit' informed by the 'Left' of course, but now, seemingly, omnipresent.) Still it is inferior. . .and therefore weaker. . .than he spirit of the 'good guys'.
And that brings me back to the possibilities of a pig. . .(!)
Time to 'give it up'. . .for today. Am soon off to Ireland for a week; a change of landscape; political and otherwise.
