Nonsense. Only in certain areas. Most folks I know get by on a lot less than this. And are able to put money away besides.
They just don't live in $500,000 houses. You can still get a nice row for $150,000 in some parts of south Jersey.

Thank God for the South! I live in Richmond, VA part of the year and a house down here in north Mississippi that costs $250,000 here could easily sell for $500-700,000 in Richmond, and thats not even near DC!
