I'm quite sure there are a couple boomers within 10 min. flt time from every potential target in the Mideast, N. Korea, and a variety of other locations.

It's what the Navy does.

Good article. It rejects both the idiotic neocon idea of democratizig tribal Moslems, while at the same time rejecting appeasment.

The only trouble is, I don't see a way ahead. The neocons have dug us in such a hole with their stupidity, it's going to be very difficult to get us out.

Well, I certainly hope not. Without democracy, you only have tyrants running countries.

Exactly. So long as we make perfectly clear to those Tyrants that we won't tolerate them sponsoring terrorism, it works just fine.

Bush said something once about not making expedient alliances with dictators anymore, which sounded very idealistic. Very Wilsonian and Neo-conservative.

But he didn't follow through.

Thank God.

Japan was completely destroyed by the end of World War II. Come back and talk to me about the comparisons between Iraq and Japan after the U.S. drops a couple of nuclear warheads on Iraq and bombs the country's ten largest cities to smoking ruins.

Hear hear! I am so sick of these stupid neocon comparisons of Iraq to Japan and Germany. You'd think they'd realize how dumb they are after the mess they created in Iraq, but leave it to the neocons to fail to learn from their mistakes.

I'm not suggesting we drop the bomb on Iran, but I want to remind the Dems and the "bipartisans" that at a low point in our fight in Korea, Truman spoke about using the A-Bomb.

Truman hints use of A-bombs

Declares U.N. Won't Give Up Korea Mission

November 30, 1950 -- [exactly 56 years ago, today]
Washington - (AP) - President Truman said today active consideration is being given to use of the atomic bomb against the Chinese communists if that step is necessary.

The President spoke of this possibility at a news conference in which he also expresssed continued hope a third world war can be averted.
