I think Lieberman could be a surprise candidate, but he would have to really run as an independent.

What has Obama ever "led"? He's a Senator, not a "leader".

McCain was an officer, so he led troops. Gulliani led a police force and a city administration.

Quinnipiac is the nadir of public polls.

Its run by a liberal Democrat operative named Carroll.

I submit that the person who shall eventually be elected President in November 2008, is not even on this list.

Several possibilities have already been counted out, either by their own pronouncements, or by what would appear to be a campaign-killing recent reversal of fortunes.

But Nixon came from nowhere in 1966, when everybody had counted him out forever, and not only won election, but re-election. That was one of those rare times when there was no clear successor to the office to the Presidency in either party when the campaign season started.

Remember this old song? "The swift boats are coming their sails are in sight, the swift boats are coming there's dancing tonight"

Giuliani leads polls, until Conservatives find out that he said to Phil Donahue:

"But if the ultimate choice of the woman - my daughter or any other woman - would be that in this particular circumstance [if she had] to have an abortion, I'd support that. I'd give my daughter the money for it. And if that's my private resolution of it, that's the way I have to resolve it publicly."
