Jesse Jackson Wants a Seinfeld Boycott for Kramer Tirade --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Jim Roberts Nov 28, 2006
That didn't take long. Jesse Jackson is now heavily involved in the racist rant put forth by Michael Richards aka 'Kramer' from the popular '90's hit television sitcom Seinfeld. Richards went on Jesse Jackson's nationally syndicated radio program, "Keep Hope Alive," as a part of a series of apologies for the incident over the weekend.
Jesse Jackson Wants a Seinfeld Boycott for Kramer Tirade
Jackson, has called Richards' words "hateful," "sick," and "deep-seated, and for once in his life jess Jackson is right.
***
Of course that didn't last long as Jackson then called for a boycott of the Seinfeld DVD set that went on sale last week to protest Richards' racial tirade at a comedy club in Los Angeles last week.
Yes - that will really solve something.

Richards, who played Jerry Seinfeld's wacky neighbor Kramer on the TV sitcom "Seinfeld," was performing at West Hollywood's Laugh Factory last week when he lashed out at hecklers with a string of racial obscenities and profane language. A cell phone video camera captured the outburst, and the incident later appeared on TMZ.com.
Richards told Jackson the tirade was fueled by anger, not bigotry. He said he wanted to hurt those who had hurt him.
"I was in a place of humiliation," he said.

Hard to say what should happen to Richards. He has really no career and has been unable to sustain the Seinfeld momentum. But moving to Jesse Jackson for healing was a huge error as Jackson will want to make it about the person he cares most about.
Jesse Jackson.
With a little luck, maybe he can get the show cancelled!
What a maroon.
Exactly. It's payback time for not cowing to the shakedown artists while Seinfield was on the air.
I count on this call to boycott having exactly zero impact on DVD sales.
I'm not suggesting it. It is pretty much accepted that that was the deal. If Seinfeld didn't care ifanyone bought his DVDs then he would not have timed his appearance on Letterman to coincide with their release.
"What's more oddball; watching and not liking or never watching (like me)?"
I'm close to that. I really don't like sitcoms to begin with, so a bad one makes it even worse.
Actually, Seinfield did arrange that (he was there shushing the audience during the sattelite feed with Richards). I think he did it more to protect the reputation of "the show" and possibly to help out a friend than for money-- surely he rakes in plenty of dough.
JJ is trying to get the maximum money out of this. He will milk "white guilt" for all he can get.
After "Kramer" grovels and crawls on his knees to kiss the feet of the great extortioner, JJ will feel that he (JJ) has risen several levels in the ranks of "civil rights leaders".
BTW, isn't it stupid to boycott episodes that were produced years ago?
you are also very sensitive, sheesh. I was poking fun at hymie town Jackson.
Didn't Seinfeld get cancelled about ten years ago?
What is wrong with you? Seinfeld was great.
I have seasons 1-6 and will get 7 this Christmas.
"What balm? Who told you to use the balm?"
"What is wrong with you?"
Hah! A lot of people ask me that.
What passes for humor today just passes me bye. There isn't one sitcom in the past 20 years I've been interested in watching. My wife and mother (who lived with us for years) watched some years ago. But today, it's things like the Law and Order trio that grab my wife's attention, or a good Western, history topic, or good book for me.
Just bought mine off amazon.....Like blacks buy Seinfeld....Is he calling for a boycott of Dave Chappelle or Chris Rocks dvd's? funny how Paul Mooney is up with Jackson and he uses the "N" word more then anybody. Want to ban the "N" word in Hollywood? What will Chris rock do?
Too bad that when the rev said "Richards is a racist" Seinfeld didn't dust off the old line from the show-
"Not that there's anything wrong with that" (episode when George and Jerry were accused of being homos)
Larry is a big democrat contributor. I won't be boycotting Seinfeld. Love the Sein! Watch reruns daily!
I think Cosmo should have given Jesse the ol'
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
[I'd been expecting this ever since Richards' original tirade made the news (the DVD set for Season 7 was due out the next day)....]
LOL. Perfect timing. I think it's a best-seller now on Amazon.
I'm still boycotting Jesse over his anti-Semitic "Hymietown" comment that he never apologized for.
Is there any one word that absolutely no one can utter? I really don't care for the double standard where the brothers can utter a word that will destroy the career of a cracker. I want one word that makes everybody equal because no one can say it.
