First, they say it's great for women. Well, duh, women wouldn't be taking the risks associated with this pill. There will be risks.
They claim it works by preventing ejaculation. I could be wrong, but somehow I don't think that's going to appeal widely to men.
Women still shouldn't trust men to make use of such contraceptives and men, likewise, shouldn't trust women to remember their "pill" regimen. If you're carousing, as in many things, "Trust by verify."
This male pill will, of course, offer nothing to prevention of STDs/STIs. It might be of some practical use inside a marriage where the could is not ready for their next child.
Barrier methods, such as condoms, already exist that a woman can demand be used so she doesn't have to solely bear responsibility alone for pregnancy prevention.
LMFAO
Oh yeah I will be taking it... NOT!!
Gotta watch our terminology. For example, I had a vasectomy years ago. Had no noticeable effect on the amount of ejaculate (which comes from the prostate), but there aren't any sperm in it (they come from the testes). I received no reports of a taste change.
But stopping the ejaculation entirely is IMO both undesirable and a bit scary. When I was a kid, there were times when I got aroused in "inappropriate" times or places and tried to stop the ejaculation and it was damn near impossible. To do so chemically strikes me as Not A Good Idea somehow. It also sounds like it would take away a lot of the physical pleasure of the man's orgasm. So what's the point of the act, if you're not planning to procreate, and you're not going to enjoy it...??
Moreover, I'm not sure that women are going to like the idea of a "dry orgasm" in their man, except possibly those who are allergic to semen (there are some). Well, those who are wearing blue dresses from the Gap will be pleased to discover they don't have to take it to the cleaner, but it'll be harder to impeach their boyfriend.
All in all, not a great solution, IMO.
Hmmmm ........ just how many years has this little pill been tested?
;-)
****
That sort of puts the pee in the punch bowl, doesn't it?
[...SHOULD return to normal within hours of stopping the treatment.]
..and if it doesn't?
Would this affect collecting DNA? I'm sure rapists will be interested in this little detail.
At least it will be something new for the pope to ban. . . . . ;-)
Bill Maher's mother delivered the male pill.
