In their story today about Malachi Ritscher, an antiwar protester who killed himself in Chicago earlier this month by setting himself on fire in public to protest the Iraq war, the Associated Press failed to report that he claimed in his self-written obituary that had walked right by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in 2002, knife in hand, intending to murder him but that he decided against it--a decision he expressed shame over.
Rumsfeld's brush with a potential assassin was mentioned, but buried, in opinion articles published in the Chicago Sun-Times, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Harper's Magazine.

His comments on coming close to killing Rumsfeld:
I have had one previous opportunity to serve my country in a meaningful way - at 8:05 one morning in 2002 I passed Donald Rumsfeld on Delaware Avenue and I was acutely aware that slashing his throat would spare the lives of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of innocent people. I had a knife clenched in my hand, and there were no bodyguards visible; to my deep shame I hesitated, and the moment was past.
The Associated Press story will set the tone for discussion by the rest of the media as they try to prop Ritscher up as an example of the nation's frustration and anger over the Iraq war. That he claims to have been within a breath of assassinating Donald Rumsfeld should be part of the discussion. That the AP, which quoted other parts of his self-penned obituary, failed to report that should also be part of the discussion.

The media hid this because they don't want this leftist freak to look bad. But, truth to tell, it may be better to leave the story hidden, because the last thing we need to do is give these loonies any more bad ideas.

Those voices in his head weren't American. They weren't even human. They were demonic.
We must pray for all our leaders and, yes, for 'Moonbats' like this. Hate the sin but pity and love the sinner.

Even at Rumsfeld's age, I have a feeling he would have kicked this kook's a@@ if he had tried it.
