Agreed, Democrats usually overplay their hand.

It IS amazing that despite being in the minority for 6 years, liberals and Democrats got all the ink, all the airplay and all the columns. Except, of course, when the Republicans were being accused of wrongdoing or screwing up. Then they got ALL of the coverage. Republican silence on this issue cost them big..

...Democrats usually overplay their hand.

The Left relies on emotion, reason is too unwieldy and difficult to employ en masse, to seduce their base. This is why a guy like Obama is quite dangerous. Unlike Hillary etc., he avoids the shrill approach that rallies the opposition.

Yeah, I posted the link and never read the story. Just acid bombs, but on a busy shopping day is nuts.

I hope the police decide to do something more than slap these two punks on the wrst over this.

The parents need to be held accountable too.

He's not the only one, there must be a liberal virus in the air.
I just watched an all too long segment aired by "Local 10" Channel Ten, ABC affiliate in Miami(still broadcasting in English for now) aka (loco Ten) with local former Miami Herald liberal columnist Michael (Mikey the Putz)Putney who is obviously best buds with "his guy" Alcee Hastings.
The Putz started by telling how much history he has with Alcee. They go way back and no one is more qualified to interview him than the Putz.
If that wasn't enough of a barf alert, not once during the entire interview did Hastings' guilt or innocence over bribery charges when he was a judge ever come up,it was neatly circumvented.
What did come up however is Hastings' vow to use the subpoena power he would get, vengefully and often, if botox nancy gives him the nod as intel head.
Just shows what we are in for with the rats now firmly in control of congress. It will be one subpoena after another after another until they get enough talking points for the wapost/nyt cabal in 08.
At all costs they have to avoid running on issues in 08, because then they automatically lose.

Christmas shopping is an opportunity for terrorists and crazies alike we all need to keep our wits about us especially when shopping in major towns and cities and I make that worldwide not just the US.

Just checking the thread again. I just wouldn't be able to stomach the talk shows today. I am still feeling lousy from the meds.

Bawnee Fwank chastises Chris for asking 'negative', read: hard, questions. Like, are you gonna raise taxes?, are you gonna push for Al C. Hastings?, etc. Can't handle heat of truth.

To: Bahbah

Morning AB, Bahbah, All:

Nothing exciting happened last week so no stories.

I want to specifically respond to Bahbah's post because I'm getting confused on the Iraq war.

I mean, come on, I'm a bit of a political junkee and try to follow closely what's going on. But the average American hears that people are burning each other alive over there, that the Shia's are fighting the Sunnis, yada...yada...and it gets real old. It also seems, if one can believe the MSM spin and we know how dangerous that is, that this President of Iraq is basically powerless. He implemented a curfew in Baghdad which nobody followed?

Now I understand that most likely things in Iraq are progressing along and these fights are also likely inspired and instigated by foreign factions. But Americans don't fight protestant against Catholic in the streets and their eyes tend to glaze when they hear this nonsense. Why should our soldiers dies for idiots fighting over this silly stuff?

That being said, seriously, it is totally up to the COMMANDER IN CHIEF to be keeping Americans up to snuff on this stuff. And he's not so far as I can see. All I see is Bush out there sitting with Pelosi and firing Rumsfeld all of a sudden and I heard Rumsfeld didn't even know about it in advance.

If Bush has given up for sure the American people will follow.

I'm totally committed to staying the course but I have a distinct feeling that the powers-that-be are ready to throw in the towel.

Now that I think of it, I DO have a story on just this subject. Maybe I'll post it in a bit.

I remember when Hastings was impeached and removed from the bench.

I was completely dumbfounded when he ran and was elected to congress.

You just illustrated perfectly the hypocrisy of the DBM as it stands today.

They are not friends of the Conservatives, they are firmly behind and will do anything to support, the Libtards.

Nice of Loco Ten as you call it to telegraph what yet another Libtard is going to do when they get the Gavel.

Nothing for the people...and everything to settle personal and petty BS and percieved slights.

It's like the Mob wars when Gotti was consolidating his power.

OK, just for the hell of it, let me start a religion.

It worked out for L. Ron Hubbard, though his followers don't kill their opponents (usually), just destroy their lives.

Read Robert Heinlein's description of the Fosterites in Stranger in a Strange Land for his take on his friend's so-called religion.

Now, to the substance of your post

But when we left, the war (in Vietnam) was over.

I have to agree with those that questioned you on this, and actually go beyond the time line specifics they raised.  There were at least a couple more years of war in Vietnam after the last American left.  On the broader scale I don't consider the conflict in Vietnam to be a war, in and of itself.  Instead it was a battle in a much larger war, the war between free people in democracies and communist dictatorships intent on taking over the world.  Jerry Pournelle called it the "70 years war."  We lost the battle of Vietnam but, by and large, we won the war against Communism, or at least beat them back to where they aren't quite the threat they were.  An evil idea never seems to die, after all.  The portion of that war in southeast Asia, of which the fighting in Vietnam was our biggest part, kept going and resulted in the deaths of millions and the dislocation of a like number of refugees, as well as the enslavement of many more.  We lost the battle of the Philippines in World War 2, but eventually defeated the Imperial Japanese in that broader war and, in the process, liberated the Philippines again.  We may yet liberate Vietnam as well, this time by undermining their Communist government through trade.  It's worked elsewhere.

This IS a war against a religion. But is is unlike any true religion that ever existed. It is an army disguised as a religion.

Yes and no.

The same logic that applied to the "battle of Vietnam" versus the war with Communism applies to the current conflict against the Jihadis. It is, as you say, a war with a religion.  The Bush / Powell / Rice strategy started out with the specific intent of avoiding engaging in an all out war with Islam.  I think that policy has failed, not only because of flaws in their tactics but because they were thinking that they could avoid letting a war start.  This war started in the year 610. This is, if you will, the "1397 years war" (so far).  The first major battles started when Mohamed first pulled out his sword and started slaughtering unbelievers in the name of Allah around 622 and it has been their primary tactic ever since.

But far from being unique, his approach is far more in keeping with the way religions operated historically than the Christian evangelistic approach.  Even the Jews operated this way, carrying the Arc of the Covenant into battle before them as they marched forth to fight the Philistines or other non-believers.  Xerxes, the Babylonians, the Egyptians and most other great civilizations spread their religion through the use of the sword.  The Romans broke with that model by allowing their conquered states to generally maintain their own religious practices, so long as the Roman gods were also allowed a place.

We have fought these same barbarians, Mohamed' hordes, many times since they started out, and it has often taken centuries to drive them back.  We did lose all of the Christian kingdoms from Bulgaria to Morocco and up into Spain.  We almost lost all of Europe and it took Charles Martel (The Hammer) to turn things around in France and the brutality of Vlad Dracul and his kind to halt their advance in the Balkans.  We have not liberated most of the conquered lands yet.

The fighting in Iraq is analogous to that in Vietnam in that if we do pull a John Kerry and run away we will lose that country, in fact that entire region, to the Jihadis, just as the dominoes did fall, at least partially in southeast Asia.  This time the consequences will be far more likely to be catastrophic and it could lead to the deaths of hundreds of millions.  God help us if it comes to that.

Where are the Mongol hordes when you need them to distract the Jihadi hordes like they did in the past?  Ah well, warm up the Tridents, fellas.  We're gonna have some business for you in awhile.

As an aside to my friends who might be concerned about the length of this post... I started it around 10:15 and have been only doing it in tiny parts with the font set real large.  I promise, I'm not pushing it.... but I am addicted... <g>

Absolutely but unfortunately I suspect they are a poor excuse for parents and will see it as a badge of honour not a punishment or the incident as a crime.

Exactly....Did you hear that moron Kennedy's tirade, concerning raising the minimum wage, a week or so ago? He damn near soils himself when he gets into the zone. Unfortunately, this tripe is usually eagerly ingested by the denizens of the fat part of the bell curve.

Well, since you begged. Heh.

Okay, here's what happened. Bear with me. There's a moral to it all.

I am the bookkeeper/pr guy for my niece's beauty salon. One of my more recent assignments was to write a policy manual for the salon; to change the existing one to be more in tune with the current employee demographic, which is part-time for most of the operators.

Now I can write something like this in my sleep but all of a sudden my niece falls in love and gets all involved with some guy (who I think is a total nut case, please ask me about this though it's all just gossip). Then her puppy got sick, some kind of brain thing.

So my niece is traveling to Virginia to get her puppy fixed and she's got this new guy in her life and I can hardly keep up with her. We need to talk once a week just to track the money and for a while I was at a total loss.

Well I put that policy manual on the back burner because sheesh, I figured if SHE didn't care, then I didn't care either.

Okay, so that's a bit harsh. But hey, people need a leader. Whether it's the boss, the owner, or the President of the U.S., there are some people that are expected to lead just by virtue of their position.

So my niece gets all upset with both me and her operators. She complains that they're not bringing in business and she wonders where the new policy manual is. I told her that first the puppy got sick then there's this new boyfriend. Well sure I was referring to HER and she got the message, I'll give her that.

For when the head cat is at play (or whatever), the mice will play. I, and the operators, took a little vacation along with my niece, who also took a long trip to Spain and England in the middle of all this.

I mean, IF, my niece wants the operators, and ME, frankly, to buckle down, well SHE's got to do the same.

Lately I feel this call to leave Iraq is getting so much traction that it's almost accepted wisdom. We've got special blue-ribbon panels, and now the Dems with Joe Biden touting splitting the country up. On and on it goes and where the hell is the Commander-in-Chief?

HE needs to have a heart-to-heart talk to the American people, and I'm not just talking his normal platitudes. He needs to be HONEST. HE needs to mention that out of 19 burroughs (or whatever they're call in Iraq), that only 5 are a problem. HE needs to point out whatever sucesses the Iraqi President has had, if indeed there are any. HE needs to tell us true just why this Al-Sadr character is still hanging around. HE needs to lay it out and frankly he needs to challenge the American people

The American people aren't losers. We know about winning and I believe with a good pep talk from the head coach the people would get behind the President.

Instead, well like I said, I see him glad-handing with Pelosi and firing Rumsfeld.

What kind of message does this send to the average American Joe in the street?

Oh, about that weird boyfriend of niece, man this guy LIES like a trooper. He should be a fiction-writer.

Want to hear one big lie? Hand to God, he told me his ex-wife actually BIT off his penis! Now I know my niece. If this guy's missing a penis she'll not hang around him long.

Or how about the time he went swimming with the dolphins? Don't like that...how about the fact that HE invented pay-per-view television?

I'm amused, folks. Beautiful girl, my niece, runs her own business and is a lovely person. Yet all she finds are nuts.
