Nope, the naysayers all imagine that THEY are absolutely "brilliant" and that the rest of us are idiots. Of course, none of them know any history at all and neither do they know HOW politics or government works. Just look at what they post and you'll see how right I am! They all seem to think that the president is some kind of king/emperor/dictator, who can do whatever he wants to.

I'm past the point of being "disgusted" with them.

Welcome. :-)

Hysteria has been the flavor of the day, here, for quite a while now; sadly and I'm fed up with it and the damned cut of their noses hysterics.

Don't say that, man! They'll start calling you a DUmmy, a troll, a liberal, and say you've never been a conservative (or accuse you of being a conservative, just depends on which one is on your six at the moment) if you don't drink BushBerry Kool-Aid by the gallon!

Welcome to our world...it ain't easy around here these days for those who choose principle over party.

Never EVER believe anything from any of the MSM or cable or even supposed Conservative columnists/talking heads; especially NOT when they themselves say that it is a RUMOR!

And as far as "registering your disgust".....do so in PRIVATE; preferably in your bathroom or a closet. The LAST place it should appear, is on FR!

Sounds like someone is trying to stir up trouble for the President. How many folks will hear this and get mad at HIM even though he hasn't done anything?

I wish that I could give you one, but as I am almost completely devoid of HTML skills, I am unable to comply with your request. What I can do, is to find the thread and ping you to CT's post. If you are amenable to that, then that is what I shall do. :-)

Good for you!

Likewise, I am NOT ever going to allow these Reagan mythographers get away with anything; not ever. So I too post the hard, cold FACTS and take the heat for it; but, I don't care. I will NOT allow this Bushbashing and lies about the "PERFECT REAGAN", who never existed, to stand.

The real problem is that everyone has a equal voice at the ballot box. The person shouldering 90% of the tax burden gets one vote...same as the unemployed clown living completely on government entitlements. The voters living on the dole outnumber those paying the bills. There is a hard lesson coming down the pike when the persons bearing the burden retire and join the entitlement side of the balance sheet. The socialist house of cards is going to fall hard and fast.

>>A detailed economic analysis follows Lindsey's introduction wherein he essentially proves the Laffer Curve.

The question is whether Bush will repeat his father's error -- which resulted in Clinton. The "business as usual" GOP congressional leadership selections -- despite the clear signals sent by voters in the recent election -- does not bode well.<<

1. The Laffer curve as popularly presented is as much of an over-simplification as the opposing theory that tax payers don't change their behavior as rates change.

2. The truly wretched part of this rumor is that the part the President is supposedly prepared to raise social security taxes - perhaps the most "black hole" part of the budget.

3. There is something positive here - maybe will somebody will actually start talking about balancing the budget.

"Why have the republicans, who were swept into office in 1994 on the vow to return power and control to the citizens, become what all freedom loving souls despise? Any thoughts?"

I believe the Republican politicians did not abandon principles, I just don't think most of them had many principles to start with. Hence, they could not be trusted with power. While I think W is an honest man who does stand up for his beliefs, I'm starting to wonder if even he has very many strong principles. If he does, I doubt they are the same as mine.

In any case, though I'm feeling disillusioned with W at this juncture in time, I would be shocked if he allowed a tax raise. I don't expect it.

I waiting for all the "traitorous Bush" commenters to come out of their caves and hit this one.

Yeah us knuckle-dragging cut and run conservatives. All we care about is our guns.

You guys who march lockstep with the GOP really need to do some soul-searching if you hope to win back the people you so smugly denigrate.

I haven't been here all that long, but I sure miss the old days. Yes indeed, back when facts were more prevalent and important than hysterics based on nothingness.

You've been here less than two years....
