A Tulsa man says a letter to the editor got him kicked out of his church.

He says the letter published in the Tulsa World was anti al-qaede.

But he say's members of his Mosque say it's anti-Muslim.

Omar Villafranca spoke with the man.

Tulsa TV news report gave a bit more details.

Reporter talked to a person at Mosque. That person said the guy was loud in prayer room, and that was the reason he was banned. He could return if he apologizes for being loud in the prayer room, and that the writing the article had nothing to do with his being banned.

This is why they won't speak out....they are shunned or worse.

If we don't win in Iraq and pull out it will be worse.

We ask these people to denounce their religion and that means their heritage and community, if they can't count on being supported I can understand why they remain silent. They need to know we won't leave them in the lurch.

It's a viscous circle and the only place to truly break islam is in America. We can't pull out and we can't leave men like the man in this video isolated.

The KOTV video is a bit more detailed and indicates significant discrepancies in the versions of the story from the letter writer and from the Mosque representative.

From the video, it seems like some of the more radical members of the mosque are very upset with him. The mosque leadership CANNOT push back against the more radical members, because they will then be called unIslamic.

The problem with thinking you can rely on "moderates" to restrain the extremists, is that moderates have no passion. It is the extremists who have the passion to make things happen

That is the crux of the problem: Is there really a distinction between moderates and fanatics? If so, then the "peaceful" Islamics should take responsibility for policing their religion and exorcise those who taint and bastardize the true Islamic religion.

However, since the "peaceful" Islamics remain relatively silent in regard to their fellow 'radical Islamic' brethren, I go with a quote from Robert Bolt attributed to Sir Thomas More in A Man for All Seasons:

I believe the moderates are in the majority. But I also believe that the true definition of an Islamic moderate is "somebody who does not have the courage to personally do what Islam demands he does". Which is why you will not see "moderates" opposing extremists. The extremists are the true Muslims. The moderates CANNOT make the claim (to other Muslims) that the extremists violate Islam, however much the mouthpieces proclaim "peace and love"
