Former senior American officials with ties to the US administration told the al-Hayat newspaper that the assassination of Lebanese Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel thwarted any chances of a direct dialogue between Syria and the United States.

According to the officials, the assassination only increased the firm voices in the US government, demanding that Damascus changes its policy and meets the American conditions before Washington and Syria start negotiating.

If anything good came out of the murder of Gemayel (God bless him), it's this. NO negotiations with either Syria or Iran!
