Rummy was NOT fired....he resigned.
Twice before he'd tried to resign and was talked out of it.
This time it was evident the left were going after his jugular with everything they could invent, so for his sake, the Presidents and everyone else involved his resignation was excepted.
If he'd been fired, do you think for one minute he'd still be giving the orders as he is today and will be until Gates has been confirmed and takes over?

Technically, he resigned, but I'm guessing he was asked to resign. There's not a big difference.
He's a very gracious professional guy, loyal to this country and his duty, and would never have stormed out in a huff in any event.

OK. He resigned. The President accepted it. I will leave it at that. I still don't understand the hate for him. If anyone is to be blamed for past problems in Iraq, it is the State Dept & the intelligence agencies who never miss a chance to harm the President.
