LOS ANGELES - A high school is apologizing after an anonymous article was published in the school paper comparing rowdy black students at a fast food restaurant to "a pack of monkeys."

Carson High School officials withdrew copies of this month's newspaper, letters of apology were sent home to parents, and principal Kenneth Keener apologized over the public address system.
The article, which was titled "Looks like the circus is in town," appeared on the editorial page of the issue distributed Tuesday. It appeared under the column title "Rambling Rogue," which is written anonymously each month by one of the paper's top editors.
The piece described raucous and impolite behavior at a nearby Taco Bell: "When I go to Taco Bell, I want to go to a restaurant, NOT A ZOO! Stop acting like animals... behave and clean up after yourself." The writer said most of the crowd was black and described the students as stupid, rude, immature and insensitive.
The newspaper's student editor, Alex De Vera, and faculty adviser Gregory Vieira agreed to pull the papers. They said the article escaped their normal vetting because the page was late and only two people saw the piece in advance its writer and the page editor.
The school is not releasing the name of the author, and Vieira refused to discuss any possible disciplinary actions.
Did I deny that there are some blacks whose behavior is off the chain?
No,I didn't.
My problem is the"monkey"word which has historicaaly been used to portray blacks as less than human.
Not only that,it singles out one group.I teach part time in a very"diverse"school district and I can assure you to the fullest that its not just blacks who are raising hell and acting stupid.
I teach full time in a nearly all black school. I witness a total lack of socially acceptable behavior on a daily basis.I was merely citing a personal observation.
You have passed your final hurdle to leave Reeducation Camp XIV.
You may get dressed, and pick up your Citizen's Identity Papers at the Warden's Office.
Good luck, Comrade Citizen Lucius Cornelius Sulla!
Interesting background.
I am just curious if this all black school is a place you CHOSE to work or were you assigned there?
I ask that because I was assigned to one of the most"ghetto"schools in New Orleans in the Seventies. It was rough at times but I stuck through it for a couple of years.I guess you could say I was a burnout victim.Too much politics and a tendency for administrators to allow way too much nonsense to go on without incriminations.
In my current crop of schools, you find that whites,Mexicans and Asians are often just as rude and inattentive as the black kids. The difference is that the black kids have louder voices and thus are the most obvious of the offenders.
Ain't the truth a bit*h?
Any and all future jobs.
You can only escape the title of racist if you are anti-white.
It may be offensive to hear, but the fact is, much of that behavior IS simian, not out of place at the zoo's primate exhibit. The loud hooting, exaggerated gestures, literal and figurative chest-thumping, casual aggressiveness, overt and indiscriminate sexuality, it all adds up to "humans" barely distinguishable from their anthropological ancestors.
**But I've seen plenty of white and Mexican kids acting crazy and I don't see their behavior being compared to monkeys.**
Didn't you ever sing this little ditty to a brother or sister you know?
Happy birthday to you.
You live in a zoo.
You look like a monkey,
You act like one too!
Amen.
The one I remember at the end goes
Happy birthday to you
All the monkeys
In the Zoo give their best regards to you
Happy birhday to you.
Absolutely correct.
"Here we come...walking down the street...going into every restaraunt...upsetting those who just want to eat..."
You left out Joe, Peter, and Richard. Obvious ethnic sterotyping with those names.
Perhaps you need to get a job with PUSH.
Of course I sang that little rhyme as a child but the monkey appelation takes on a whole another dimension if a white person sang that to a black child.
The interesting thing is that it is not uncommon to hear blacks refer to other blacks as apes and monkeys.
Yet,like the N word,I wouldn't advise whites to go there.
No,Jesse turned me down at PUSH.I would have pulled too many of his women!
Really, tho, when you try to paint black kids with a broad brush I AM going to say something.I have known too many that did things the right way and I won't let people put them in the same bag as the gold grlled saggers and B-Boys.
