It seems like opposition to illegal immigration is misinterpreted by even citizens of Latin descent as opposition to their own presence and citizenship.
I think they believe opposition to illegal immigration is due to racism, and they are against that.
How would you go about counteracting that attitude?
We're looking at a real political problem here, and we can't wish it away by saying that we just oppose illegals and not existing citizens. Obviously the existing citizens feel opposed by what's being said.

Legal Hispanics have been polled and they favor enforcement. They are smart enough to see how continued illegal immigration is going to screw-up the good thing they had going.
The open borders types and the Democrats cause the misinterpretation on purpose.
Pandering to Hispanics isn't going to solve the problem or help the country.
The administration lost this election and they want amnesty. Go figure.
I think they believe opposition to illegal immigration is due to racism, and they are against that.
How would you go about counteracting that attitude?
I think you're right about that, and honestly, I don't know how you deal with people who are immersed in ideas of victimology and make all kinds of demands and even threats.
I just know that I don't like kissing behinds and pandering to people. It simply isn't in my nature.
