"Former Attorney General Janet Reno and seven other former Justice Department officials filed court papers Monday arguing that the Bush administration is setting a dangerous precedent by trying a suspected terrorist outside the court system," the Associated Press reports from Washington:
It was the first time that Reno, attorney general in the Clinton administration, has spoken out against the administration's policies on terrorism detainees, underscoring how contentious the court fight over the nation's new military commissions law has become. Former attorneys general rarely file court papers challenging administration policy.
Suspected al-Qaida sleeper agent Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri is the only detainee being held in the United States.
The former prosecutors challenged the Justice Department's right to bring al-Marri before a military commission.
Well, Reno got a chance to try the law-enforcement approach to terrorism during her eight years as Clinton's attorney general. And apart from its failure to prevent the attacks on the Khobar Towers, the embassies in Africa, the USS Cole, the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, etc., we suppose it worked pretty well.

I suspect many of you will agree that in this case, the third time's the charm.
"Former Attorney General Janet Reno and seven other former Justice Department officials filed court papers Monday arguing that the Bush administration is setting a dangerous precedent by trying a suspected terrorist outside the court system,"
Has Waco completely slipper her mind? And her, let's forget arrest and trail and just burn em, policy?
She didn't allow the women and children in Waco to have a trial, she just torched them. She has NO ROOM TO TALK.

Janet Reno...because it is Thanksgiving weekend, and because I try to act like a lady, I am going to say , God Bless you, God Bless our Troops, God Bless President Bush and Thank you Jesus that Janet Reno is a just an ordinary nobody.
Why doesn't she just continue the family tradition and wrestle alligators?
There's still time for Congress to pass a law that all former officials of the Clinton Administration are to be deported to France.
"Reno is a just an ordinary nobody."
With all due respect, and I mean that.
She is not an ordinary nobody, I'M an ordinary nobody. She is guilty of mass murder of men, women, and children.
Some say the Oklahoma bombing was a terrorist act. It was not, it was an abominable act of revenge, for Waco. Both are HER fault.
Not to mention her tactics in several child abuse cases when she was a prosecutor in Miami in the '80s. So disturbing were her methods that even liberal PBS did 2 Frontline programs about her cases:

All Due Respect Mutley, I doubt you are a nobody. And as for Reno, she might of been somebody at one time, but now (thank God) she is just a nobody. Janet Reno is guilty of many things, of which she will have to answer to a Higher authority.
Ah yes, Janet Reno, the AG that burned little children alive is worried that terrorists won't get a fair trial! That is just rich!
"Janet Reno is guilty of many things, of which she will have to answer to a Higher authority."
Thanks for reminding me. That is the only thing that gives me comfort about her.
Damn people make us look like fools.
One word: Nuremburg.
This from the woman whose Justice Department was responsible for the urder of dozens of Americans at the Waco Branch Davidian compound, and kidnapping a child at gunpoint to return him to a tyrannical regime. However, trying a 'suspected' terrorist in a military tribunal? That's just unacceptable!
Just tell sasquatch that most Mexicans are devout Catholics and she'll hunt them all down and kill them.
Or perhaps the government doesn't want to have the ACLU work and spend all their time getting this bozo off so he can go home and rejoin al-Qaida.
Or perhaps they have not finished getting Intel from this worm
Or perhaps I could care les if they detain him until the flesh rots off his body
When will she be prosecuted for the deaths in Waco?

Worth asking every day!
