What I *know* is that FReepers are not of one mind about Rudy. Some favor his candidacy; some don't. It's close to an even split.

Actually, his showing was pathetic. He turns off a majority of the base of the GOP, even when compared to Hillary Clinton. No surprise, since he's a stonecold Leftist just like she is.

November 8, 2006

Republican Rudy GiulianiDemocrats carried the day in Election 2006 and the 2008 campaign has already begun. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani leads the GOP field and is supported by 24%. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is in second with 18% support.

Senator John McCain earned a lot of important friends with his aggressive campaigning in 2006, but he starts the 2008 campaign as the choice for 17% of voters.

Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney comes in fourth with 9% support.

It is not clear if any or all of these candidates will formally run for the GOP nomination. When we asked voters who their second choice would be, the top four candidates lined up in the same order. Interestingly, nearly half of Rice’s supporters say that Mayor Giuliani would be their second choice.

This survey of 1,050 Republicans and 203 unaffiliated voters who would vote in a Republican Primary was conducted from November 4-7, 2006. In many states, unaffiliated voters are allowed to vote in party primaries.

Rasmussen Reports will update the Republican Presidential Primary competition every day based upon a three-day rolling average.

We will also be tracking the Democratic Party march to 2008 on a daily basis and providing new general election updates on a daily basis.

Don't worry too much.

There is a reluctant waking-up going on on many of the blogs (like Free Republic), but it is happening.

The Rudy-ophiles are slowing getting the hint.

After claiming that Conservatives who oppose Rudy were a small minority of blogger types, they must have been STUNNED at the resistance to him that was/is open for all eyes to see in the FR poll on Rudy.

The reality of the disaster of his candidacy - and the only possible result of it being having all three Houses run by the Democrats (with Rudy atop the ticket) - will sink in further as time goes on.

The idea that Liberals, after eight years of Republican presidency and with all three Houses in sight, are going to line-up to support another Republican (Rudy) based solely on the strength of his character - to ensure four more years of GOP running of the executive branch - is sheer madness.

They will miss the 58% of Freeper-type vote who will look elsewhere.

And with a massively depressed and suppressed Conservative base and GOTV grassroots, they will see several gains for the Democrats in the House and Senate.

Like I said, once reality starts to sink-in over MSM media polls giving Rudy good early numbers, the Rudy-ophiles are going to have to reluctantly look elsewhere.

It is already slowing happening. Many are just trying to make one last-ditch effort to convince us he's not really a total, flaming left-wing, liberal activist.
