creepy? - not at all. He simply demonstrated some of the common human potentialities. Not everyone [happily, rather few] develops them to a similar degree, but the potential is right there. So as not to search for the examples too far, look at the rwandans, darfureans, milosevicites, khmer rouge, gulag and laogai personnel...

Hitler wanted to create a master race, but he had the genetic disorder of Parkinson's disease. Interesting.

It's creepy, but you have to give Schickelgrubber credit -- he put on a good show of being heterosexual.

I think Allan Bullock would say the home movies don't tell us anything about Hitler's private life and as he remarks in biography, what comes across is how impoverished and devoid of human warmth and interest was Hitler's personal existence. The private man is singularly unimpressive and small compared to the public figure. Hitler had outstanding gifts as a politician and public speaker and it has been noted that his rapport with a mass audience was truly exceptional. On the other hand, his ability to relate to human beings as individuals was quite limited. The man was intolerant of differing viewpoints, was lacking in humor, ice-cold in demeanor and had no use for small talk and mutual conversation. Hitler dominated his retinue with endless monologues. New technology doesn't really add much to our insight of a truly evil man.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus

I didn't even know Hitler could speak English.
Seriously, I would have thought the writer would have indicated something about the translation from a German dialect into English.

"You be a brave boy," he says to a small Aryan child. "You will be a fine soldier one day." I am curious, Ivan. Why would the writer refer to this child as "Aryan," rather than German? In the United States, the use of that word would indicate acceptance of an Aryan race and is only used by neo-Nazis.

He is also seen teasing Braun about a screening in his cinema at the Berghof. "I understand you didn't like the movie last night," he says. "I know what you want. You want Gone with the Wind." Nah, misread lips or translation. It went:

That's cool technology. Does anyone know if there's a handheld device (yet) that hears speech and prints it in readable text? (Good for deaf and hearing-loss people)
Are you cybertech companies listening? Big market here. Or at least a viable market.

Holy cow! The implications for this new technology are HUGE!
It is like taking every silent newsreel in history and going back in time and putting lapel mikes on all the characters.
This really is huge!
