Justly proud of him, SheLion - what branch of the service was he in?
He served 4 years in the Army when he was in Viet Nam. He was discharged and worked Civil Service for a year, but being strictly military, he got the itch to go back in. I talked him into going Air Force because I didn't want him going back to Nam. He was wounded twice and had two Purple Hearts. I just couldn't bare him going back
So, Air Force it was. He was a heavy duty mechanic for many years until we came up here to Loring Air Force Base ( which closed in September of 94) but he crossed trained and served the last 7 years being the 1st Shirt of Transportation Squadron. He served 26 years.
