GAZA CITY (AP) -- The Red Cross announced the suspension of its operations in the Gaza Tuesday night, after two of the organization's workers were kidnapped by Palestinian gunmen earlier in the day.
Iyad Nasr, a spokesman for the Red Cross's Gaza office, said the organization had ceased all field operations and would intervene only "in matters of life and death." Workers have been ordered to stay in their offices because of fears for their safety, he said.
The kidnapping of the two Red Cross workers, both Italians, was the latest in a string of abductions of foreigners in the lawless area.
The Red Cross said Claudio Moroni, 36, and Gianmarco Onorato, 63, were abducted in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza after their car was stopped by gunmen.
"We are doing our utmost to ensure their immediate and unconditional release," said Red Cross spokesman Simon Schorno, adding that no one had yet claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.

What on earth are we to do with these cultures, and populations, that have always, or just recently, cast off the fruits of the 18th century enlightenment, and are now wallowing in, and heralding, the ignorance of populations without the aid of reason or logic?
If they haven't benefited from the enlightenment of mankind, and are still stuck on the religious(document of your choice, but mostly Islam) view of the world. Then my guess is that there is no option at this point, other than to eradicate them, in one way or another. Because, people with that view, mean nukes for God. And this makes the future pretty bleak.
the red cross...useful idiots helping the muzzies....they are so stuck on stupid thinking these animals will ever do anything contrary to their religion....which is death & destruction!!!!
Ahh, the same Red Cross that wouldn't deliver the letters of a downed 160th pilot in Somalia because the units motto, abbreviated as NSNQ "Night Stalkers Never Quit" was on a letter he had written home. I personally will never again give these people money for providing comfort to the enemy.
