I know of some plural "marriages" (quotes because the second actual marriage isn't legally bound because of law) where a second spouse has entered an existing marriage relationship, and I have to say that I've known the women to be quite happy with it. But I haven't seen it with younger women, who might be more burdened with insecurities and petty jealousies than older women--or at least the older women are more focused on the advantages, in their eyes, of the arrangement.

For example, with one married couple I know, both have professional careers and go to work while the second wife stays home and raises the kids. This works well for them, as the second wife didn't want to have the career and the first wife didn't want to have to stay home full-time to raise the kids or put them in day care.

But I suppose you'd disparage these women as "brainwashed," huh?

The second "wife" is not a wife, but a concubine if you're not actually making it up. And you really ought to call CPS--because there's probably abuse going on. A "husband" like you describe sound more like David Koresh than Father Knows Best.

I'm guessing this kind of arrangement would have been OK for your own mother?

Actually, I would believe that those woman do not have the deep love that I feel for my husband, which is an exclsuive lovers' love. Even God is jealous; it is not wrong to have jealousy as a human emotion, and if my husband asked me to share him with another woman it would be like driving a wedge in my heart.

Have you not seen the very real pain of a friend who's spouse is having an affair? Just because it happens frequently, does't mean it doesn't hurt. It's supposed to hurt less because a piece of paper then puts that woman on the same plane as me?

Two women who want to share a husband due to convenience loves those conveniences more than the husband, don't have a sex drive, have lesbian tendencies, or have some other such problem.

Besides, I like sex just as much as my husband. That aspect hasn't been discussed much. As a Christian, St. Paul says that we are NOT to deny one another. How is he not denying me if he's having sex with several other women? I want sex just as much as my husband, and it's my right to have it!
