I'm surprised they didn't try to blow up the Olive trees.

PING!
(I remember last year when some FReepers were convinced that the palies would never do something like this to their own trees.
There have of course been a number of court cases where Arabs have been convicted of destroying olive orchards and trying to blame the Jews, but never mind. Facts are so elusive....)

Just confess and say you did it. Who knows, maybe someday they will call you the Father of Palestine.

Maybe they couldn't find a pine tree and decided to use an olive trees for Christmas.

It's agricultural warfare/terrorism:
"The culture of olive trees requires the patience of generations of agriculturists. The olive tree is green and non-deciduous, with a gray trunk that comes to appear wrinkled and knotty. An olive tree takes twenty-five (25) to fifty (50) years to mature, however, it begins to give fruit six (6)to eight (8) years after planting. The olive tree is an evergreen tree, and stands anywhere from 10-50 feet high. An average tree will yield about 22 pounds of olives during harvest, and the best yields are often from mature trees exceeding 250 years of age."

Did they scream, wild eyed, "Allah Ackbar" as they severed the trees' trunks from their roots?

Well, that's the kind of thing their ancestors did in the 7th Century when they overran Palestine.

Maybe they will start sawing each others' heads off and blaming it on the Israelis. Oh, I guess they are already doing some of that.

The Albanians would do the same thing to the Serb farmer's plum trees in Kosovo in an effort to force them out.

One does not cut down olive trees over there. They're practically immortal and prized like one's family heritage.
To: ScaniaBoy
Cutting down olive trees turns out to be harder than it looks. Victor Davis Hanson pointed that out in
War And Agriculture In Ancient Greece. It's a sure way to get a rise out of the trees' owners, though, which was why they did it back then and it looks like they still are.

Our neighbor went to Israel the summer after our daughter died in Jan. 2004. She planted an olive tree in her memory. Sure hope this did not happen wherever they had the tree planted.

One PA Arab reportedly beat his chest three times and said "As Mohammed-peace be upon him-is my witness, I did not cut down a single olive tree. This isn't my axe, and if anyone says differently I'll chop his head off."
