Japanese automaker Mitsubishi recently announced it is developing a diesel engine for a European market vehicle, and although it says it has no plans to bring a diesel option to the U.S., it hasn't ruled it out, according to a report in Automotive News.

What's wrong with bringing diesel products to the United States? VW diesel products have been very successful.
Maybe it has something to do with the transition to the new low sulfur diesel fuel.
What's wrong with a diesel engine for 1/2 ton pickups, like GM use to make!
Mercedes diesel products are too expensive for my pocket book.

Mitsubishi has been building good quality diesel products for close to a hundred years. They should do well in the small market too.

The problem with bringing diesel to the US probably revolves around EPA regulations

Government Regulations are probably the #1 issue with any new or efficient idea, plan or project... gotta grease palms first (ain't that right Murtha, Jefferson, Clinton, Reid, EPA, etc etc etc)
Government needs to GET OUT OF OUR LIVES period, then Unions need to stand alone or die. Oh what a dream.
