"They took us off the plane, humiliated us in a very disrespectful way," said Omar Shahin, of Phoenix. The six Muslim scholars were returning from a conference in Minneapolis of the North American Imams Federation, said Shahin, president of the group. Five of them were from the Phoenix-Tempe area, while one was from Bakersfield, Calif., he said.
Three of them stood and said their normal evening prayers together on the plane, as 1.7 billion Muslims around the world do every day, Shahin said. He attributed any concerns by passengers or crew to ignorance about Islam.
"I never felt bad in my life like that," he said. "I never. Six imams. Six leaders in this country. Six scholars in handcuffs. It's terrible."
Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, expressed anger at the detentions.
"CAIR will be filing a complaint with relevant authorities in the morning over the treatment of the imams to determine whether the incident was caused by anti-Muslim hysteria by the passengers and/or the airline crew," Hooper said. "Because, unfortunately, this is a growing problem of singling out Muslims or people perceived to be Muslims at airports, and it's one that we've been addressing for some time."
Robert Spencer agrees on how unfortunate this is:
Indeed. It is terrible. It is terrible to have to do so. It is terrible that these and other scholars have allowed those who commit violence in the name of their religion to do so unimpeded and unchallenged.

Tell these iman to go on tv and denounce all bombing and threats to Isreal and the USA. Then they can have their say in court.
If standing and making a public display of their prayers were mandatory according to their religion, then all six would have been doing it. That only half did, demonstrates the desire to be disruptive on the part of those three. Their actions were provocative to those around them.
Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Qur'an should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth"
--Omar Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of CAIR (Council of American Islamic Relations), San Ramon Valley Herald, July 1998
We are being hoisted by our own petard as we let these people use our stupidity against us. Stupidity is and should be painful, and the pain is only beginning as we slowly commit national suicide.
CAIR is the well-groomed PR front of terrorism. This country is committing suicide slowly and CAIR is only too happy to make it happen faster. Soon, there won't be a pilot in the U.S. who will risk his career by insisting that Muslims behave according to the rules of his ship. And heaven forbid they are asked to conform to the standards of a free country, such as not waving a red flag in a crowded airplane with their chanting in a foreign language. Honest to God, if CAIR wins thanks to our laws, we cannot blame these people. They want this country and we helping them to it.
Or common sense caution?

Bad boys....you supposed to get down and bang your head on the ground a few times.
I guess they figured out at the conference
1)...Lets see if this escapes attention
and
2)....Pressure for inflight prayer meetings for all muzzies.
Nice try boys....the citizens are on your case.
be sure to contact US Air and thank them
If they insist on living in the eighth century, they should walk to Phoenix.
Good points. If you hand your enemy a weapon, don't be shocked if he uses it on you.
Quiz Time again:
By Anonymous
To ensure we Americans never offend anyone particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport screeners will not be allowed to profile people. Hmmm . . . nope, no patterns anywhere to justify profiling!!
Why do they have to make such a production when they pray??
I'm a catholic .. we don't get out of our seats to pray .. we will sit there quietly with our rosary's and say our prayers
Maybe CAIR should take a common sense lesson, and rebuke their religous brethren who fly airplanes into buildings and kill 3,000 inoocent people.
How about changing the article to:
Religious fanatics involved in preventing the orderly loading of a US aircraft.
I am sure the characters involved could be prosecuted on some federal regulation for refusing to take their seats.
Here is a website that describes the Muslim "Position For Prayer" requirements:
http://www.yuksel.org/e/religion/salaat.htm
One should start the Salaat prayer in standing position (2:238; 3:39; 4:102) and should not change his/her place except during unusual circumstances, such as while riding or driving (2:239). Submission to God should be declared physically and symbolically by first bowing down and prostrating (4:102; 22:26; 38:24; 48:29). This physical ritual is not required at the times of emergencies, fear, and unusual circumstances (2:239).
In any case sit you butt down and let the crew do as needed so that you don't inconvenience every one.
Had I been a passenger on that flight I too would have had concern. The passengers are fully justified for what they did. If Islamic fascists succeed in perpetrating another 9-11 size attack on the US, these same Imams should be rounded up and sent to camps and their mosques closed no different than the pro Nazi American Bund groups were at the start of WW-II.
