There's something wrong with our system when a scumbag like this is free to walk our streets and prey on innocent children. The first conviction should have been enough to keep him in prison until he had to be taken out in a body bag.The government puts thousands of children at risk when it fools itself into believing that therapy can cure these sick bastards.Rapist and child molesters should be locked up longer than everybody except a murderer.

Hate to ruin a good rant, but the fact is that most sex offenders do not repeat after conviction.

Only about 3-6% of convicted sex offenders re-offend within three years. ( study )

"Across all studies, the average sex offense recidivism rate (as evidenced by rearrest or reconviction) was 18.9 percent for rapists and 12.7 percent for child molesters over a four to five year period." ( study )

Treatment helps significantly: "Those who were in treatment longer tended to last longer in the community without a re-offense. " ( study )

Other criminals have a higher recidivism rate than sex offenders.

Please understand, I'm not defending the horrible crimes of sex offenders in the least. They deserve severe punishment for their crimes. But treatment does help, and for most of them, prison is enough punishment to make them stop.

We should work with facts as much as possible, IMO.
