NEW CASTLE, N.Y. (Nov. 20) - A husband and wife who live on the same cul-de-sac as former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton were forced off the road and shot, police said.
Carlos and Peggy Perez-Olivo remained hospitalized Sunday after being attacked Saturday night, according to police. Their medical conditions weren't available early Monday.
The couple - he a recently disbarred criminal defense lawyer, she a teacher's assistant - were shot en route to their Chappaqua home from Manhattan, New Castle Town Police said.
On a desolate part of Route 100, a car cut in front of the couple's sport utility vehicle and forced them off the road, police said.
A man with a gun got out and entered the SUV through a back door, and Carlos Perez-Olivo fought with him, police said.
"Mr. Olivo attempted to wrestle the gun from him, and there were several shots fired," Detective Sgt. Marc Simmons said Sunday.
Peggy Perez-Olivo was shot in the head. Her husband was shot in the abdomen but managed to drive to a hospital.
The gunman fled, according to police, who said two other people may have been riding with him.
Police said they were unable to identify any suspects or determine a motive.
Acquaintances said they were also mystified.
"I can't imagine" why anyone would shoot them, said their landlord, Gerard Gorman. "They're a very nice couple, great folks, sweet people."
Carlos Perez-Olivo practiced law in New York from 1980 until he was disbarred in August, according to state court records. State Supreme Court appellate judges found he "repeatedly refused to return unearned funds or retainers to clients."
Perez-Olivo was previously accused of incompetence for failing to recall portions of his closing argument in defense of a waiter convicted of second-degree murder for fatally shooting his wife's lover last year in a Manhattan subway station.
Ummmm, I can.

The "waiter" probably isn't too happy with him, and is giving orders to his pals from his prison cell. Putting 2 and 2 together, Perez-Olivo isn't a public defender (or he couldn't afford to rent a house on the Clinton's cul de sac), and this "waiter" is a mob guy (real waiters don't make enough money to hire defense lawyers) with plenty of money to hire slimy defense lawyers . . . and to pay hit men to rub them out if they screw up his defense.
Sandy Hume, Britt's son?!? Anyone know the details on that one?
LOL!
That was pretty much my scenario, although I missed the "waiter" angle.
Can't think why anyone would consider it a "mystery attack," really, unless the mystery is why he's still alive.
Geez!!! Mysterious..oh right! How many people have you known that have died mysterious? I don't know of any, and hope I never will.
Terrific!!
They want us to believe the Clinton's actually share a house together?
Actually, we do have a disbarred lawyer living in our cul de sac. He's a real piece of work. He's in the process of trying to re-instate his license but I think he's going to lose.

The woman has died.

It's just bizarre how mysterious/unusual deaths seem to follow the Clintons.
AP reports that a police officer involved in the investigation (but not willing to be named) says the husband has not been ruled out as the perp. The road they were on was not the most convenient route between what he told police was their point of departure and destination, and offered a much more secluded area than the most convenient route would have.

Thanks for the update! My husband shut off the internet today, so I haven't seen any news at all! (Ahem. He claims it was an accident.)
