Well, at least I have lots of company in your world. LOL. This thread is an exemplar of why Thomas Jefferson was so suspicious of organized religion.
"I will preach on the plurality of gods. I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see"If you can make sense of these contradictions, let me know.Joseph Smith
King Follett Discourse
"I know that God is not a partial God, neither a changeable being; but he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity"
Moroni 8:18
"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret. If the veil were rent today, and the great God who upholds all worlds and all things by his power, was to make himself visibleI say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in formlike yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image, and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with him, as one man talks and communes with another"
Josehp Smith
King Follett Discourse"For do we not read that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, and in him there is no variableness, neither shadow of changing? And now, if ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing, then ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who is not a God of miracles"
Mormon 9:9-10
So many false hoods, so little time
>>Not Trinitarians
Correct (neither were the apostles, the Doctrine of "The Trinity was not created until 325 AD by Constantine who was not a Christian. Question exactly who was Jesus standing on the right HAND of when peter saw his vision?) I got more, the trinity is not Biblical, it was Constantines idea and he had to kill bishops to get the Catholic Church to agree to it (look it up your self, I suggest New advent.org, a catholic site BTW) http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11044a.htm
>>The "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" are supposedly three persons who used to be human beings.
BZZT, Wrong Try this http://scriptures.lds.org/en/a_of_f/1 its what the church actually believes and its on the web for all to see, so why dont you just link instead of being inaccurate?
>>The Father got promoted to the job of ruler of this planet. Eventually, if you're good, you can have your own planet too.
There are so many things wrong with this that I am having trouble separating them (and Ive BEEN a Mormon for 34 years!)
Hows this for a Biblical reference: John 10:34 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are Gods?
And why is it exactly that we call him father? Do sheep have Puppies? Do dogs give birth to Kittens?
You try to make the logical look illogical just like the liberals do.
>>If you don't believe me, look it up.
Go look it up, my eye, give a link when you say that, OK? Otherwise people might start to think you are just a religion troll.
Here a link to everything you ever wanted to know about Mormons http://lds.org
P.S. Drive by smears do not become us.
It would depend, but since such a large subset (2-15%, based on the estimations of the author of "Jihad in America") of Muslims in the US subscribe to radical beliefs, one has to be prudent and cautious in assessing a Muslim candidate. In contrast what subset of Mormons subscribe to radical beliefs? Statistically near zero, and none of their religious texts advocate violent and repressive radicalism.
Huge difference, so frankly comparing the two is somewhat silly.
Well I can't cite any LDS Scripture, but I could cite you a certain confidential LDS bishop's manual in which it's okay for a pre-born baby to be put to death for reasons of the "health" of the Mom.
"Life of the mom" is one thing; "health" is another. "Health" is overly encompassing...and could justify most abortions.
Yes, although the scandal was really a function of her bad marriage.
We have non-members come see Baptisms all the time. We just don't do them during sacrament meeting.
We believe in full immersion, not sprinkling, if that helps.
You're the one who set up the standard of not spitting on a group with similar political tenets in some areas. Both LDS (variety of issues) and Muslims (abortion and homosexuality) apply. First you say we should compare and contrast groups like the LDS (to our own conservative beliefs). Now you say this contrast and comparison game is silly. Which is it?
That's a very, very long stretch.
Give me a break. The same KJV Bible LDS advertise on TV says that in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) the church is to baptize folks in the Name (not names like LDS theologically believe, but a singular Name) of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.
I'm sorry but this and multiple other passages all pre-date 325 AD. Try again.
29 Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
1 Cor. 15:29
Complete nonsense.
Sorry, I'm not going to go round and round playing the hair-splitting games of the Pharasees. Have a nice day.
Harry Reid, a Mormon and new Senate Majority Leader, must be bracing for the incoming hate-mail!
Well, it's only a "stretch" because you've escaped the womb alive. You're not a pre-born whose Mom is claiming to be unhealthy, are you?
It's funny how perspective means everything. If babies could speak they would tell you there's a jihad going on against the womb.
Sorry I have not logged in in awhile. I forgot replying doesn't include the original post.
Oh, yes. A common refrain used by Jesus in speaking to the Pharisees. How "Jesus" of you.
>>That's because Mormons don't publically baptise. We have no way of knowing how it is done.
Ask and ye shall recieve:
http://scriptures.lds.org/en/search?type=words&last=baptize&help=&wo=checked&search=baptize&iw=dc&tx=checked&af=checked&hw=checked&sw=checked&bw=1
This is the church's instructions, on baptisem.
But simply put, Immersion, and the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are all in the prayer.
public? go ask your local Ward when the next one is, all are welcome, we just don't pose for pictures while doing it.
Correct
Thank you.
The "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" are supposedly three persons who used to be human beings.
BZZT, Wrong Try this http://scriptures.lds.org/en/a_of_f/1
I tried it and found this:
But Joseph Smith also says:1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost...
Joseph Smith
"I will preach on the plurality of gods. I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see"I'll grant you this, Mormon doctrine is a moving target.Joseph Smith
King Follett Discourse"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret.
