Thanks, Kat.
Interesting that CFR had a place at the table. Many of the former officials are CFR, too.
Tinfoil hat out for reblocking. ;-)
IMHO, tinfoil not necessary!
Thank you very much for all of the links you have posted.
As I went down the list of all who have met with the ISG...I found myself mentally putting check marks next to names that make me either nervous..or not so happy.
I hope that this ISG just ends up being a footnote to this period of history....
The options have been dubbed "Go Home," "Go Big" and "Go Longer" by insiders.
Sources who have been briefed on the review, led by Gen. Peter Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the group had concluded there were not enough U.S. forces to "Go Big," sending in thousands more troops, the Post said.
"Go Home," the quick pullout option, was rejected as likely to push Iraq directly into a full-blown civil war, the Post said.
The Pentagon group devised a hybrid plan, "Go Long," which calls for cutting the U.S. combat presence combined with a long-term expansion of the training and advising of Iraqi forces, the newspaper said.

Too many constantly underestimate the Bush Administration.
Ask yourself this question as if you were the Administration and the U. S. military:
If your Iraqi policy came under strong attack, what would be the fastest and best way to unite the country in this crucial battle on which our national security depends, or at least serve to dampen the partisan criticism?? What would be your alternatives in achieving this??
Only with a bit of salt:
Humpf, did someone leak that to you or are you a member of the ISG?
Why has the Treason Media suppressed the knowledge of Libya's turning over Saddam's Nuclear Weapons research program. After the invasion of Iraq Libya gave it up along with its materials, equipment and findings.
THIS alone justified the war. Yet there has been NO interest in this in the Treason Media. NO Pulizter Prize investigations, NO major stories on the TV, NO major articles in the Press.
Total suppression of the truth when it helps the President is the Treason Media's SOP accompanied by 24/7/365 barrages of LIES.
Rumsfeld was a member of this Bush Administration. I wonder why it is that he is no longer.
I was on a thread with that article last night...
BTW..I saw a clip of President Bush in Indonesia...and he was talking about getting results of discussions by groups, before he makes a decision..
BUT, luckily, IMHO...he singled out the MILITARY group, run by Peter Pace, when he spoke...which I hope means that he is giving most of his faith in them.
As I posted last night.....I just cannot believe that America would once again fall for having CONGRESS run our wars...like Vietnam.
As far as I am concerned, ISG group be damned...the only people that should be asked about HOW to win it the military..on the ground, in Iraq.
Amen.
Once the war got into the hands of the "Politicians" it was a done deal that the effort would fail. Today, if you don't run a 'blitzkreig' war for the first few weeks and end it, it is destined to be made totally 'unwinable' by the vested interests of the political and chattering classes.
How do you know he isn't?
Oh Goody.
