Text of report by Russian news agency Interfax

Hanoi, 19 November: The US authorities have lifted sanctions on the Russian aircraft manufacturing company Sukhoi after carrying out appropriate investigations. The company had been accused of violating the American law on nonproliferation with regard to Iran.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told journalists here today that US President George Bush informed President Vladimir Putin of the lifting of the sanctions during their meeting in Hanoi.

"We hope that the sanctions will also be lifted from the [Russian state arms exporter] Rosoboronexport," Lavrov said in reply to a question.

Actually it's not as bad as you may think.Sukhoi's planes are of no use as long as Rosoboronexport remains blacklisted as they are the ones who advertise & sell the electronics & weaponry that will go on those planes.

It's not the military aircraft that are in demand in the US, it's the highly respected Su-26/29/31 aerobatic aircraft -- some of the best in the world.

At least that's good to know. However in light of all these Putin critics being bumped off any further business dealing with his régime are beyond a mistake.
