The fun part will be when the young draft eligibles, a criteria not yet decided, have to register, and do not. Then when those who have registered and are in school, or employed, or playing at life decide not to go, then the funsies start. Will criminal penalties for failure to show or if they do show and find that they do not like military discipline or military life, and go AWOL or dessert?

And what of the staggering costs of impressing, & training from a general non volunteer pool who may be unsuitable for military service and then discharging them and the costs of benefits many will recieve, to say nothing of the cost of "turning on the lights" at recruit depots long closed, to train an at best mediocre quality(for the most part)troops motivated by threat and force of law, rather than a personal choice to enter the military.

Thank you Effendi Rangel for a pretty dumb idea that has been rattling around your numb skull for several years.
Aging, possibly senile Charlie Rangel has been dying for a victim military class for a long time and does not give a crap if the nation's defense and military is harmed or not. His scant time as a Marine Corporal does not inoculate him from being called a know nothing lightweight with undeserved political clout and a fifth rate mind, any more than "Col.Murtha gets an ethics or military strategy pass. Okinawa indeed.
