Election 2006: Conservative DEMs who beat Liberal GOPers?

Posted on 11/19/2006 7:01:32 AM PST by BubbaHeel

There's been a lot of talk lately that the Dem Class of 2006 is much more conservative than its leadership [Pelosi, Hastings, Schumer, etc].

So I thought I'd start a thread, trying to see whether there might be a substantial number of 2006 DEMs who are as conservative or maybe even more conservative than the GOPers [RINOs] that they replaced.

These would be the kind of people that Dubyah could "work with", like he worked with in the Texas legislature - assuming that Dubyah is still interested in any sort of a conservative agenda [and granted, that might not be a very good assumption].

And obviously if there really are a substantial number of these conservative DEMs, and if they become disillusioned working for kooks like Nancy Pelosi, then they could be ripe for the picking, in terms of crossing over and becoming GOPers.

To get things going, I'll throw out a name: For the North Carolina District 11 seat, Heath Shuler, DEM & former quarterback for the U. of Tennessee Volunteers, defeated Charlie Taylor, GOP & widely understood to be pretty much the most corrupt GOP politician in the state of North Carolina.

Maybe somebody else could nominate whomever it was that beat Lincoln Chafee...

Now he he is going to have to lie down in it, and IMO, it will be a bed of thorns.

"Uh heath shuler made his bed with nancy pelosi."

It's a little soon to be feeling jilted, Dane. Amnesty will get you right back in bed with Nancy.

Me jilted? Nah, heathy will finally make completions with nancy, rather than the interceptions he suffered in the NFL.

Well, then, Heath Shuler will be batting for your amnesty team, according to you ... so, why the vitriol for a fellow traveller?

You stated it not I.

BTW, when are the threads on FR going to appear that heathy is an OBL.

Probably around the time your hero lou dobbs slams nancy pelosi, which will be never.

Bush did manage to work with Democrats while he was Governor of Texas, and (to an outsider, at least) seemed to get more of what he wanted than what they wanted.

Later, these same politicians were the ones who ran off to a motel in Oklahoma rather than agree to redistricting, so they were not necessarily easy to get on with.

We'll see. I think Pelosi is going to have some trouble holding things together, and I hope Bush will not simply reach out and give the Democrats what they want.

The two things I'm somewhat hopeful about are one more SCOTUS appointment and retaining the tax cuts. I think the Dems would have a hard time openly shooting down Janice Rogers Brown, if Bush is smart enough to nominate her.

The war on terror will be put on hold, where it is now anyway, but I doubt we will see a precipitous withdrawal.

You just proved my point, Dane. Are you out of coffee this morning or what, lol? Here you are, a card-carryng member of the OBL, implying that Heath Shuler is not OBL.

Uh, no I have plenty of coffee, not Starbucks, but Maxwell House.

' JMO, Starbucks it seems is lacing their coffee with hashish, given your above italicized reply.

As an old friend of mine once explained to me, "It is almost an invariable rule that in any part of the country, if you find a conservative Democrat, the Republican alternative is even better. It is also true the other way: a bad Reopublican is often better than the Democrat facing him [or her]. This makes things easy: the Republican is always better than the Democrat."

Exceptions to this rule are as rare as honest mafia-men.

LOL, ad hominems work better when they're not so retarded, Dane. In your opinion, is Heath Shuler on board with you OBL types or not? Yes or no will suffice.

"...Dem Class of 2006 is much more conservative than its leadership..."

Besides the fact that "...its leadership..." is so left it's actually in the Pacific Ocean, I do not believe even for one minute that even one recently elected Democrat has a conservative bone in his/her body. These fools have allowed themselves to be called anything and permitted big lies about what they really think to be pandered about just to get elected. In the end, these characters are DEMOCRATS and will do the bidding of their so called leadership!

Well you are the expert in retardedness as your own personal experience so I will not argue with you there.

And yes heath shuler will follow the nancy pelosi line, IMO.

Remember the term "conservative" when applied to Democrats is relative.

We aren't going to see a coalition of "conservative" Democrats and conservative Republicans.

We might see a coalition of "conservative" Democrats and RINOs like the one we saw when they defeated drilling in ANWR.

Such a coalition might take the edge off what Pelosi plans to do but it will also render real conservatives in the House helpless.

"And yes heath shuler will follow the nancy pelosi line, IMO."

So, in your opinion, both Nancy Pelosi and Heath Shuler will support you in your desire for amnesty? You should be less critical of your colleagues, Dane.

They won by lying about themselves. In Oklahoma the Dem candidate for Lt. Gov. stood up and looked right at the camera and declared "you know I'm a conservative". And the fools believed it.
