The more Democrats insist on timetables and an early evacua tion of Iraq, the more they sow the seeds of America's defeat - with disastrous consequences for both the region and U.S. interests.
Not that they seem to care.
Last week, it was Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), the incoming chairman of the Armed Services Committee, calling for "a phased redeployment of our forces within four to six months."
He was echoing the Senate's next majority leader, Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who says that "we need to redeploy" and that a withdrawal should start within months.
Even New York's junior senator, Hillary Clinton - the Dems' likeliest prospect for president in '08 - jumped on the bandwagon, suggesting that carving Iraq into regions might stem the violence and allow a troop withdrawal.
It's time for a little candor here.
There is more at stake in this debate than American service personnel.
They are, after all, instruments of national policy - and, each and every one, a volunteer.
If their welfare were the sole policy consideration, they wouldn't have been sent to fight a war in the first place.
But they were, with all that that implies, and now it must be asked: Don't the Democrats ever think about the consequences of a premature abandonment of that mission?
Not just for the region - but for America, too?
Recall the nightmare that ensued after Washington ditched South Vietnam in the '70s: That stab-in-the-back plunged much of Southeast Asia into a sea of blood.
A rampaging Hanoi moved to expand its reach over the next few years, at the cost of countless innocents in South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
Millions were rounded up, slaughtered, left to die or forced to flee.
Some 800,000 kids were orphaned.

They don't think. The only thing they think about is staying in the drivers seat. To hell with the country.
If they can cause America's defeat, then they can blame it and the aftermath on Bush and the republicans.
And the msm will spin it that way to convince everyone.
In more than three years, under President Bush, 3,000 US troops have given their lives.
I wish some libs, like Levin, could do math, so they could see that more than 10 times as many troops died under Truman, as under Bush.
Does Levin wish that we did a "cut and run" in Korea?
That George McGovern is now advising Democrats in Congress says a lot about their strategic vision.
We removed Iraq's Bathist government. The Dems agreed to do it.
We need to stay until a new government is secure.
"There is no definitive D-Day death toll, but estimates range from 2,500 to more than 5,000. Bodies still are unearthed along the Normandy coast."
IN ONE DAY!!!
One of my son's Army Reserve unit is being deployed in January 2007. If they are placed in harms way stripped of the ability to defend themselves, and kill the threats, we will be re-living the horror of Viet Nam.
We have to be very concerned the cut and run talk will only embolden the terrorists to step up their attacks so as to speed up our retreat.
We have to make it clear that our troops over there cannot be abandoned and must have the tools to remain as safe as possible given the current situation. The will of the murderous enemy is clearly winning out over the will of the defense of freedom and democracy in the world.
We cannot let politicians cause dishonor and loss of respect for America. Who are we to bend to the demands of France, who cannot protect it's own culture from the islamic invasion? We cannot allow Russia, provider of nuclear technology and advanced weapons to Iran and Saddam Husseins Iraq, smoke screen the clear and present danger by obstructing appropriate actions against terrorism.
And the UN (United Nothings), with their failings to actually produce workable solutions in favor of unenforcable resolutions has only served to appease and protect the very fabric of the cultures that breed terrorism. These nations and organizations are clearly NOT defenders of freedom. It is obvious that they desire no nations exist that can defend against the whims of other cultures and nations.
We have to be concerned for our troops. Even though Democrats won the election we must press on with common sense strategy. Russia is not our friend. China is not our friend. France is not our friend. The UN is not our friend. We cannot allow those people to dictate our strategy. Yet it is those nations and organizations who are winning the propaganda battle against America's good will. I am very concerned for our soldiers in the upcoming year. We have to be loud and proud in standing up for common sense. We have lost much. How much more we lose depends on our voices of reason.
As per my tagline: "The Bush haters on both sides have elected the government they have dreamed of!"
Unless Israel takes out the Iranian Islamo leadership and Syrian Islamo leadership and the nuclear capability of Iran, Israel will no longer exist.
America has been deballed and gutted re the use of our military. The military will be defunded in the next two years. War crime charges will be leveled against our flag officers, field commanders down to the NCO at the lowest level. As a result no one with a brain will re enlist or join our military.
We are seeing the beginning of the government the Bush haters on both sides wanted.
"Not that they seem to care."
T-H-E only matter the Democrats ever care about is securing power for themselves!
Once they get it, all they "care" about is keeping it. I do not think they give any thought to consequences, rather good or evil.
I loathe these people!
Nancee
The terrorists have already been emboldened by all this talk. Attacks on American bases have increased...since shortly after the election.
The liberals and the media have substantially increased the risk to every American here now, military and civilian alike with all of this talk.
A civilian colleage of mine was killed in a rocket strike about two blocks from me last week, for example.
I don't think equating Bush's military failure in the larger WOT with *hate* is reasonable. For some reason, in a worldwide WOT, Bush has chosen to restrict our military efforts to two countries, neither of which are the center of the problem. As if we can defeat iran and syria and western pakistan through negotiation and economic sanctions. America still wonders: What's the plan Mr. President?
I didn't realize you were in Iraq until now. I certainly respect your personal mission and wish you safety. Perhaps you might meet my son when he is there.......hmmmmmm (He is single, and detatched from any relationships because of his deployment, college degree in hand, and a lot of ambitious plans for his future). :)
My typing sucks and I'm swamped at work. ;-)
Tell him to stop on by the Green Zone - my current home. :-)
Also, please tell him THANK YOU for serving our country for me. I don't want any of our troops to get the wrong message from that travesty of an election last week. We support them and appreciate them.
I will keep you posted on his whereabouts.
Thank you for your service!!
Here is a likely target.
Maybe that will convince the demonRATs that we must win. But I doubt it.
It looks like the Iraqis are incapable of getting along with each other. I say defend the Kurds only. We should not let them down again. They made many sacrifices trying to establish their autonomy and they do have a functioning democracy. Read the Senate Intelligence Report, INC were the architects in getting the United States to overthrow Saddam but Clinton let Chalibi down in the late 90's.

I say secure the Kurds and allow them to florish with our protection. Maybe the Iraqis in Baghdad will get fed up with killing each other and want peace like the Kurds.
BUMP!!!
Don't forget, we are also seeing a US gov that OBL dreamed of, worked for, and won.
The "send a message" crowd did surrender to him, the MSM and the DNC.
