There were several instances of Dems switching to Republican when the Republicans were on the rise. They're politicians. They're opportunists. If you put your faith in their dedication to principle you'll be deceived and disappointed 99.9% of the time.

No big surprise. Perhaps a Montana Freeper can provide us with some insight.

Kitzenberg dismissed Republican critics who suggested the change was "political payoff" for a state Revenue Department job he got from the administration of Democratic Gov. Brian Schweitzer.

Sounds like Montana is the New Jersey of the mountain states. What kind of government allows a legislator to get a paid job from the executive branch of government?

Sounds like to ran for office under false pretences.

I don't know if that is a crime, but they should hang him.

Some crazy things out in Montana - a US Constitution Party candidate, a former GOPer, won a seat in the MT state house:

"But Tuesday, in a two-way race with no Republican candidate to split the vote, Rick Jore bested Rep. Jeanne Windham, D-Polson. This time Jore had 2,210 votes to Windham's 1,725.

The 56 percent to 44 percent margin is “much more comfortable,” said Jore, who served as a Republican legislator from 1995-2000, and won a seat for the first time in four tries as a member of the Constitution Party.

Jore's election essentially breaks a 50-50 deadlock in the House and gives control back to Republicans. As of Wednesday, Republicans had won 50 seats to the Democrats' 49, with Jore the wild card."

Its time to invoke 'range law' on that turncoat.

Senate Republicans reacted with anger and disappointment Monday, saying Kitzenberg is betraying his northeastern district voters who supported him as a Republican.

‘’It’s outrageous,’’ Stapleton said. ‘’I can’t speak for the northeast corner of Montana, but I imagine they feel duped.’’

‘’It’s very disappointing, but not surprising,’’ added Sen. Dan McGee, R-Laurel. ‘’He’s voted Democratic now for quite a few years. It’s just sad for the people of Montana that they’re expecting a Republican senator and they haven’t had one.’’

I wonder if the people in that district can vote to recall him (if that is the term)on false pretenses of representing the Republican party.

I am not surprised by the change of party. You always have those Leaches hanging around, who will forget all of their party for a few hands full of Silver.

Saw a neat sign on a brand New Ford Pickup, ( Big Bugger) and it said. " The Democrats didn't win, we threw the bums out".. Also said, " Hang on to your money, here come the Democrats

You can get into the state legislature with a little over 2000 votes!! That's what I call government by the people. Good place to live if you have political ambitions I would think! Probably true in a number of states in those parts.

I wonder what this will cost the GOP in the long run by not actively supporting Burns until the last couple of weeks or at least promoting a successor to him in the last primary!

We not only have a democrat majority in the State Senate, but we also have a Democrat Governor and two Democrat Senators with one lonely Republican Congressman.

We are so blue now that when the limousine liberals come here to spend weekend and holidays in their trophy homes they will certainly show their gratitude and let us lick their hands like obedient and well beaten dogs.

An elected official should not be able to change parties without running for the seat again. Until this is made law we will continue to have opportunists who have no moral commitment to any particular beliefs seeking public office.

I guess you could make them retain their party affiliation, but that doesn't stop them from caucusing and voting with the other side. You can't make them vote party line on organizing the chamber.

Holy SH!T that's my Senator. But, the switch comes as no surprise. He's been a liberal even as a Republican.

The last paragraph is key. He's always been a liberal.
