Alcee Hastings, Bribery, and the House Intelligence Committee
Will Democrats overlook the next chairmans past?
OK Grandma got back and sit in the corner someone will bring you a plate of food in a minute.
"If they shut down the ethics committee, would anyone notice?"
anyone in trouble would be tickled silly
Is anyone in trouble with the ethics committee? At all?
I don't think they've done anything serious against anyone sinve they voted to boot Traficant. Unlike every other committee, the ethics committee has equal numbers from each party -- and they seem to have reached a detente where, to avoid partisan squabbles, they just sort of decided not to do anything.
I don't recall any serious investigations, any sanctions, or even any wrist-slapping in the Congress about to conclude. In its current state, the ethics committee is about as useful as teats on a boar hog.
No, Alcee Hastings is being considered for the chair of the Intelligence committee. It's a toss up between Hastings, a man who solicited bribes, or Jane Harmon, whose aide leaked security briefings to the NYT. It doesn't matter which they pick, we might as well invite Bin Laden to take a seat on the House Intelligence Committee.
Yes, an Indiana Democrat won re-election to the House in 1984 by a margin of negative thirty-four votes.
