Rove May Leave Within Weeks
U.S. News & World Report ^ | November 17, 2006

Posted on 11/17/2006 12:00:02 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

The rumors that chief White House political architect Karl Rove will leave sometime next year are being bolstered with new insider reports that his partisan style is a hurdle to President Bush's new push for bipartisanship. A key Bush advisor tells the US News Political Bulletin, "Karl represents the old style and he's got to go if the Democrats are going to believe Bush's talk of getting along." The advisor said a departure might come in "weeks, not months." A Rove ally, however, noted that he has a record of out-witting his critics.

I suspect Bush tries to push his old dream: a bipartisan relationship like when he was a governor.

Bush came into office with that dream...and had ample opportunity to try it, what with the post-Jeffords Democrat majority senate.

We all know how far that got him...

Bingo. Funny how so many of them threaten to "sit out" the next election if their demands aren't met, yet none of them has fessed up to sitting home 10 days ago. And we KNOW some of them DID!

Bush has the veto. All cooperation will do is destroy the little that has been accomplished in the last 5 years. ROVE, I was told, is the mastermind behind the illegal alien stampede. He figured if the GOP ignored the problem, corporations would contribute and the conservatives would be forced to vote Rep in light of our disdain of the Demonrats.

In essence, Rove engineered the GOP defeat... and it was significant. In light of past 6th year power changes, it wasn't significant. In terms of America having been forced into siding with the Left Wing Loonies of the Dims (Pelosi, Rangel etc etc etc ) the election was highly significant.

I hope ditching Rove is an opportunity and not a signal that the RINOs in power have folded.

I know of at least one FReeper who kept a list of people threatening to sit it out. Should be interesting to see who on this thread were among them.

Nothing here to see really sevenofnine. Just people looking to blame someone else for their mistake of not voting this year.

Rove is still the man.

Really.

However heavy Rove's partisan style may have been, he certainly didn't transfer much of it to his boss whose performance can best be described as "new tone in Washington" and "compassionate conservatism". He sure as hell could and should have been far more partisan. This lack of partisanship attracted the Rat attack dogs and led to the impression that Bush could be rolled, which in turn was one of the reasons the Big Tent GOP is going to be looking around for a brand new conservative base to replace the one they just pissed away.

I NEVER NTIMATED he was a loser .. he is NOT, and the history books will rank his presidency right up at the top. Imagine what he deals with .. every moment of every day. You're the one who used 'loser" and who put him in the same sentence with Carter, for some completely unknown reason.

My point was as simply stated: Congress (Rats/Rinos) are attempting to infringe on his constitutionally-provided powers and authority in time of war, all the while accusing HIM of a lack of bi-partisanship.

Exactly! Any "Key Advisor" who is talking wouldn't be a Key Advisor very long. That's one thing Bush has always insisted on, and as we know, there are VERY FEW Leaks out of his White House. I don't think Rove will go until he's good and ready and I don't think Bush and Rove would be discussing this with any "Key Advisors".

Dude, no one thinks you're Sulla any more than they think I'm Bush.

Well in my case it is completely impossible -- in yours, not so much! :)

Seriously, there are a lot of us who choose these names for a particular reason, sometimes displaying attitudes or philosophies and there are those of us who look at a homepage if interested in where the poster is 'coming from'. Obviously I do and you don't take this approach. Whatever floats your boat!

They won't be happy until politicians cave to their every whim, no matter how impractical it is and no matter who gets power as a result of their screaming hissyfits.

Ah, the "Whole loaf" bunch; I wonder how they like having "No Loaf" now?

"partisan style"? this administration is rarely on the attack.

Rove was always over rated.

Exactly. He has had a long winning season. You don't send a player to the locker room for one loss. Mr. Rove is one decent gentleman.

You need to read better or I need to write better.

I'm saying that Bush is not some 'gracious' president (which is another way of saying 'loser'), that being 'gracious' is not the hallmark of great or even good American presidents, that the only 'gracious' presidents I can think of would be the losers like Ford or Carter.

We seem to be posting at cross-purposes. Anyway, FRegards.
