CALL HER 'NANCY SHREW'? (Pelosi caricature of shrill, petty woman boss)
NY POST ^ | November 17, 2006 | DEBORAH ORIN-EILBECK

Posted on 11/17/2006 3:02:45 AM PST by Liz

Forget "The Devil Wears Prada---the hot show in Washington is "The Shrew Adores Armani." In just a few short days, House Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi has turned into a caricature of the shrill, petty woman boss. Armani-loving Pelosi demanded, in heavy-handed diva fashion, that House Democrats back her ethics-challenged antiwar crony, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.), as her chief deputy - acting as if she's the queen whose word must be law. But it all blew up in her face; Murtha lost 149-86 to Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), a onetime Pelosi rival whom she wants to keep squashed down......Pelosi's first move as House leader left her a big-time loser.

"She messed this up so badly, it's breathtaking. It raises real concerns about whether she can separate her personal issues from the issues of the Democratic caucus," says a veteran Democratic strategist. "It's not just the heavy-handedness, it's the clumsiness. There can be a stereotype of a woman as petty and personal - and she's now at real risk of creating that image for herself. She's reawakened all the old doubts about whether she is ideologically too liberal for this job, and added new ones as well."

The stereotype of the woman boss as a self-centered witch on wheels who'll run over anyone in her path has plenty of roots in American culture.........so if "Nancy Shrew" becomes the image of the highest-ranking woman ever in American politics - Pelosi will be second in line of succession to the presidency - it'll be a problem for all women politicos, including 2008 prospect Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.....

Pelosi's pushing pal Murtha forced The NY Times to belatedly acknowledge that the "culture of corruption" is bipartisan - not just a Republican evil, as Times news stories and editorials kept suggesting until the election.

I did, however, roll the coins I glean from change left in pockets when I do the laundry, and deposited $27 in the savings account yesterday! I thought that was pretty neat!

Conrats. I love to do that. We have been keeping a real big bowl of change on top of the refrigerator(s) for over 35 years. I love to grab that bowl and empty it now and then. I feel rich.

Speaking of money, I caught my little female cat hurrying through the living room on Tuesday evening with a twenty dollar bill in her mouth. I should have let her continue on before stopping her in order to find out where the rest of the money is.

;-)

Is she a calico? In my part of the country calicos are referred to as "money cats" by people of my parents generation, the superstition being that if you have one you will never be without money. LOL!

Just to give Pelosi some credit she has been a mother to five children. I assume she raised them right because I never here anything embarrassing about her offspring. One must give credit to a woman who isn't satisfied with five children----- BUT ventures forth into politics. I'm assuming they were all past high school when she did this. I'll bet Pelosi was a stay at home mom.

One must respect the drive and energy of such a woman. Look at Hillary and Mukalski. One child and a no child lesbo who has all the time in the world to devote to mischief. BTW had did that misshapen mutant ever get elected to even dogcatcher?

I've always liked Nazi Pelosi myself. I have to attribute that name to an unknown fellow Freeper, though.

Oh darn, she's just a sweet very little orange short hair, extremely cute though.

But we have another female who is a calico. I'll be awaiting the riches.

Just wait ~ 2 months when she actually has to run the place. When all those guys just ignore her and go about slapping each other on the back as usual. It will be fun to watch C-SPAN again. The worst thing to do is to ignore a woman when she wants attention. Just have fun observing this stuff.

That is true and certainly not to be dismissed.

She's a lighning rod now that she has the top job in Congress----unfortunately criticism goes with the job. Ask any Republican. Nancy will be shown no mercy, but that's par for the political course. Gotta be thick-skinned to be in politics.

On election day, the lowest price for gas in my county - in MD - was 2.06. Since then, that station - a WaWa - now prices regular at 2.13. Other stations in the area range from 2.15 to 2.19. This morning at the beginning of Neal Cavuto's repeated program, he stated gas prices dropped - which would be yesterday. I will look at the pumps and see if this is reflected. I do find it beyond a coincidence that after the election, gas prices went up.

Maybe Nancy made a deal with Murtha by getting him to speak out as a former marine against the war. Maybe a deal that offered her support if they win the house. Just trying to figure why she would go out on a limb for Murtha.

Did you see that fake, teeth-from-ear-to-ear grin that Nancy Shrew pasted on her face for every photo op yesterday after the House handed her her butt in her first leadership initiative, the nomination of Murtha? It was inappropriate and indicative of her utter feeling of inadequacy. I predict a colosal flop for the "First Woman Speaker of the House," as the adoring msm has crowned her. The new Blue Dogs can't support her SF agenda or they won't be re-elected from their conservative districts in '08. Every Republican in those districts ought to develop a pen-pal relationship with those newly-minted "conservatives", letting them know they are being weighed in the balances with every vote they cast.

Murtha was definitely cashing in a chip when she endorsed him...... for what favor he performed for her we may never know.

I looked up her bio. She was elected in a special electikon in 1987 and held the seat ever since. The bio says she got involved in politics when her youngest child started high school. However, I heard on WMAL the other day she and Steny Hoyer interned for the same MD Senator at the same time. Did not get the year. She graduated from college in 63.

"Just to give Pelosi some credit she has been a mother to five children. I assume she raised them right..."

In what universe? These women I have nannies, lots of them, sometimes one nanny for each kid. They also have housekeepers, private secretaries, personal shoppers, cooks, and maids.

Let's not get carried away giving credit. I know women without all that who have achieved a lot.

I know from downstairs experience what the lives of the rich and obnoxious are like.
