Why would anyone want to take a cruise on one of these ships? In addition to the boredom of sitting on a boat off the coast of an exotic land instead of actually being in the exotic land, there apparently is a very real chance of contracting some life-threatening bacteria or virus in the closed ship environment. I paid for my mother to go on a couple of these with her girl-friends this year - she was bored, but at least she didn't get sick. The next trip those ladies will take will be a Kenyan safari - no more boats.
Oh yeah, Kenya is real clean and non-toxic!

What I love about those safaris is with either a rifle or a camera you get to shoot something.
I've taken numerous cruises and enjoy it greatly. That said, Carnival is to cruising what Greyhound was to interstate travel.
In the end, you get what you pay for.
Actually, the ships are not boring, kind of adult Disneyland and going ashore isn't the only fun. Having said that, the problems they have these days will keep me off the ships and in my own backyard!
Well I have been fortunate enough to have taken two cruises, 1 Royal caribbean Caribbean cruise, a Cunard Alaskan cruise, and a 2 week private safari in Kenya.
If I had to rank the three from best to last:
1:Kenya, i'll never forget it
2:Alaska cruise, amazing, but I was on a small 500 luxury passenger liner. Not a 5000 passenger hamburger and fries serving monster.
3. Caribbean cruise. Fun, but not really special.
