The best options are Newt and Rush. If an actor can be President, why not a radio commentator?
Rush wouldn't take the pay cut!..........
Saa-a-a-ay, now that's a winning ticket....probably would sweep the entire country no matter whom the Dims put up to run against them!
Rush wouldn't do it in a million years and both he and Newt would get shredded about their personal lives. But I really think that Sean Hannity or Tony Snow could do it.
Rush would cause liberal heads to explode. However his chances may be as good as Ollie's were. He got my vote and so would Rush.
Kicking Ass & Taking Names.
Republicans had an opportunity for a great communicator in Michael Steele for the RNC but they flubbed that one up.
Ronald Reagan was early-on a radio commentator - an excellent baseball sportscaster.
But Reagan, "as actor", essentially played himself. He was a genuine, decent human being who had great religious Faith and sheer humanity - for persons at all levels of the social scale..
It did not end there: he left the Hollywood realm and went into politics because he felt it his duty to actively make a difference in the world.
He was not just a commentator like Rush L. - but Rush L. admirably fills a niche for our time, even if he declines to simply put on a pair of jeans and go chop some firewood (something he should be able to do if he ever aspired to public office, which he never will.)
