But you're right about Romney.
If Hagel perfect? Of course not. The question is whether he is better issue by issue.
Sorry Mitt but you just lost a vote. They will not take away our right to bear arms although they are trying like Hell. We don't need a Republican President supporting a Bill that takes away any of our Constitutional rights. There's more than enough of that occurring as there is.
There goes one of my candidates. Bye, bye, Mitt.
Hagel's political aspirations for 2008 are DOA.
I'M CAPTAIN KIRK!!!!
All of you need to go check out the thread about Haley Barbour. (a couple threads down) He IS your man!
Politicalspeak: "Positive effect" = Be a burden to law abiding gun owners.
Hagel is dead wrong on Iraq.
I'd vote for Haley
"He not only supports the Brady Bill but compulsory and subsidized Hillarycare.....Why do folks here even consider him? Chuck Hagel is a better choice: right on the second amendment, right on free markets, and right on Iraq."
Sigh. Romney's proposal is absolutely nothing like Hillarycare. The Heritage Foundation created it for heavens sake. I'll tell you what, allowing health care to continue as is is NOT a conservative position. Allowing entitlements to balloon over the next 10 years until they're taking up significantly more of our budget then the military is NOT a conservative position. Allowing millions of Americans to leech off and bankrupt the government for health care by showing up at emergency rooms with not a cent in their pocket is NOT a conservative position. Allowing the free market and economic incentives to drive health care prices down IS a conservative position. Is MassCare perfect? By no means. It would have been significantly better had Romney's numerous line item vetoes been upheld by the legislature for one. But most importantly, Romney has proven that he is capable of thinking outside the box to solve real problems that threaten fiscal discipline everywhere. And he has proven that he is capable of doing this using conservative principles and without raising taxes. These are no small feats, and anyone who can honestly compare what he has started in Mass to HillaryCare simply doesn't have a clue.
::sigh:: Are there no true right wingers left in the party?
"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."
--Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.
circular firing squad?
Let's look at Duncan Hunter, Mark Sanford, Haley Barbour, or Mike Pence.
Mitt never had my vote. He is a RINO and a liberal in too many anti-Constitutional regards. There is no way you can reside in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts and not get it all over you....
Romney, Giuliani, and McLame will split the RINO vote in the primaries, leaving a huge opening for a real Constitutionalist.
Now, if we can just get Pence, Hayworth, or Shadegg to run in 2008, the conservative base will come home, and we can retake both houses of Congress.
