With the resignation of Republican National Committee Chair Ken Mehlman, President Bush intends to fill the post with Florida's Mel Martinez, a Hispanic who led the battle in the U.S. Senate for amnesty for illegal aliens.
"Martinez is going to lead the fight for amnesty that Bush could not win when Republicans controlled the Congress," one angry RNC member told The Washington Times' Ralph Hallow.
Unable to extract an amnesty bill from Denny Hastert and Co. in the House like the McCain-Kennedy bill he supports, Bush is looking to cut a deal with San Francisco Nancy.

Who, can you cite, (including the most staunch pro-border-enforcement types, such as Tancredo and Hayworth) has EVER suggested a policy or proposal of "mass deportation."
Guess I just landed from Mars as I have NEVER seen or heard anyone suggest such a ludicrous suggestion--although if you were inclined to bone up on your history, I believe Eisenhower did just that.
There comes a point where to survive politically a *political party* has to work within the constraints of *political realities.* Failure to do so is what kills parties---unless, of course, the party is killed from within by a small group of people who won't accept political realities.
Don't know where your political philosophic lies, but this statement leads me to believe you might be in the "moderate" wing.
The lets all hold hands, sing Cumbaya and try to "go along to get along" will lead us all down that garden path and slippery slop to extinction.
Conservatives want a party (and leaders) who will fight for our values and if we don't find any, I fear that Illegal Immigration Legislation, which appears now destined to be implemented, will turn so many Conservatives away from the party, that even a Hitlery candidacy will not bring us back to the fold in 08.
Bush = Judas
You miss my point! There will be no respect for the law unless we punish criminals and that's what "illegals"are. If we are going to reward criminality then we should reward our own first."Inclusiveness"is a weakness just like "tolerance"and builds a "tower of babel",which was never completed by the way!
I am not a moderate, I am conservative.
The fact is that the reigning public perception of anything less than some sort of amnesty/guest worker program is "mass deportation."
And, yes, mass deportation has been advocated here on FR.
My point is that, regardless whether "mass deportation" is a a policy proposal, it is, in fact, how the public perceives anything that precludes people already here (illegally) from staying here (legally).
It may not be the true choice, but it is the choice as perceived by the public.
Yeah know lots of people violated the speed limit and those laws were changed.
What we have now is a mess and most voters want change, probably including a guest worker program and English recognized as the official language. They do not like the harsh rhetoric and tin foil theories and talks of mass deportations.
your number (in the millions) is on the low side - IMHO
"It's a stupid question. Of course a Bush - Pelosi amnesty is on its way. It'll be at least as bad as the one supported by the Republican Senate last year, and will ruin what's left of the United States of America. We can ill afford to add 10-20 million or more future liberal dependents on to the taxpayer's rolls."
I still would like to hear the plan for deporting 11 million illegals, taking companies away from those that do hire illegals and filling all those jobs that illegals work at.
I would also like to hear about those that do hire illegals, if their businesses have to close because they cannot afford insurance and benefits for their employees what they are going to do and how that will affect the economy.
I'm not for amnesty. However, I don't see how deporting 11 million illegals is going to work logistically. Can someone please show me that plan because I am interested in seeing how we are going to undertake this project.
Screw the election results, DANE! This ship was sailing long before Bush even took office. 80% of Americans want this ship sunk. Those who do not, are traitors and should be treated as such.
lawsuit should be plural with an (s).....for there will not be only one.
Once this country loses its majority culture it is done for.I cannot understand why you want this to happen unless you are against America.Every culture should stay in their OWN COUNTRY.There is no good reason for mixing cultures,it is counterproductive, besides the majority does'nt want them here and the majority should rule.I am tired of making allowances for every crybaby that comes down the pike.
but it is the choice as perceived by the public.
Prove it! I doubt you can because it's the same crap We hear every day from La Raza and the OBL.
If you spread the mass deportation over time it becomes normal deportation, as practised by many law angencies all over the western world (incl. Israel). The only reason you even need to consider mass deportation is because the INS and its masters have been sleeping for 20 years.
No.
