Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) told a group of Democratic moderates on Tuesday that an ethics and lobbying reform bill being pushed by party leaders was "total crap," but said that he would work to enact the legislation because Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) supports it.
Murtha and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) are locked in a battle for the House Majority Leader post, and both men made presentations for to the Blue Dog Coalition on Tuesday in a bid for their votes.
"Even though I think it's total crap, I'll vote for it and pass it because that's what Nancy wants," Murtha told the Blue Dogs, according to three sources who were at the meeting...

He'll do it because Nancy wants him to. Typical Nancy boy.
If Mike Spence, the republican caucus leader hopeful, is wise, he should be calling all "blue-dog dems" and offering his and his caucus' support for Jane Harman as Speaker.
Actually, I think this is a set piece show for the moonbats. Murtha will not get the position. Pelosi is too smart to have an abscam eating surrender monkey as her number 2. But it will look like Nancy tried and she keeps her credibility on Kos.
John Murtha is the personification of the "20".
And a shame to the Corps.
He and the Dims shouldn't be allow to ride the Corps for their own shameful personal goals.

good dog.. what nancy wants, nancy gets... now go! outside Murthie now! *throws a biscuit*
Is anybody else starting to think that murtha is totally senile? I thought he was just a stupid, corrupt, RAT, like all the others, but I'm really starting to think he's mentally incompetent, as in crazy. He's about 74, right?
This reminds me of 1993 before they got the boot.
Zero principled, mindless power grabbing corruption.
Once C-SPAN puts these people on the tube, in action, its going to be embarassing.
With any luck Nancy keeps her position. Middle America will flip out and decimate the Democrats in 2008 if we provide any alternative.
Their cast of characters headed for power is a laundry list of liberal nut jobs and dimwits.
When they were in power in 1993, the internet was just being born. I am confident they will melt down in a few months under the spotlight. The internet is the magnifying glass. We just have to keep it focused
Look, a sign post up ahead....
now he is sure he is speaker AND he is an expert on war policy
I do too. Desperately.
Lol, the irony of it all- Mr. Ethics devoid doesn't liek the ethics bill- ghee whoda thunk it?
I agree, Go Murtha, GO!
Twilight Zone
Yes we are.

Outstanding post! But which one is the blue dog?

Even critics clamoring that Pelosi is reneging on her pledge to clean up corruption by endorsing Murthas bid for House Majority leader dont paint the whole picture.
In her own words on March 31, 2004: I have been working on this agreement for more than a decade, and I am proud we are near our goal. I thank Senators Feinstein and Boxer, Mayor Newsom, and former Mayor Willie Brown for their work on the Bayview Hunters Point Shipyard agreement. I also thank my good friend Congressman Jack Murtha for assisting us in this last round of negotiation.

At least he's an honest crook.
Last week at work I made the comment to several coworkers that democrats have no values. The response I received was ice cold. I wonder what they think about Murtha's comments?
Poor emasculated schlep.
