Sources close to the investigation say Abramoff has provided information on his dealings with and campaign contributions and gifts to "dozens of members of Congress and staff," including what Abramoff has reportedly described as "six to eight seriously corrupt Democratic senators."
this actually may turn out better than if it came out before the election, due to "dramatic effect". Maybe Bush can call congress back from recess to hold a few little hearings...
In other news, the new Democratic leaders in Congress have decided that the problem of corruption isn't that widespread, and have decided to drop prosecution...
Nah we were losing because of the Iraq war but now that the dems are in charge the war is theres to handle(withdraw).
This will give voters a reality check on the dems, one way or they other, hating Bush only goes so far and that includes the pubs
The problem is that the electorate sort of expects Democrats to be amoral & corrupt. It's a dog-bites-man story to the Media.
I think you are right. Besides, the electorate will not care. Corrupt Republicans go to jail (Cunningham); corrupt Democrats get re-elected (Jefferson).
Like Negroes of long ago, and Working Women of yore, Republicans must work twice as hard and be twice as clean as their Democratic counterparts to overcome the double standard.
This won't be a story - dems always get a pass from the MSM.
What's fun is to hear MSM excuses about why it's not a story... ( when it's a dem).
Same story, but an "R" by the name and it's front page above the fold.
So when do we find out who those seriously corrupt dims are?
Does anybody really believe that the vast majority of Senators, both parties, aren't corrupt? To me, "corruption" in the Senate means anybody who places their personal agendas before the will and the general welfare of the majority of Americans, and any Senator who abuses his office to fatten his own bank account and that of his friends. The problem is that most Americans today will happily accept such corruption if their Senators simply work for a few things which they are in agreement on. But Capitol Hill is an armpit of corruption and abuse of power, which I hope and pray will one day be voted into oblivion by the American people, and completely purged from the corruption that passes itself off as "authority". Most of the people running our country today are the sort of miscreants and thieves which our Founding Fathers would certainly prefer to fight against than to work with.
Sorry, but the Repubs are a bunch of spineless wusses. If this is announced it'll go nowhere. A day or two media rationalization and then it'll be filed next to Sandy Berger.
Think about it....LOTT will be leading the charge.
Probably senators who have been in office for at least a few terms, and likely includes some who have been around for a long time. Narrows the list a little bit, but not enough.
No, that's a MSM rationalization. And if you have doubts about that, think of the last time a reporter asked a dem if in fact he was corrupt and thought it was OK to be corrupt. Dem would be "oh so offended" if asked.
The MSM believes any self-serving excuse that will give them a pass for their outrageous bias...
Don't buy their bullsh-t, Tallguy. It's a sham.
Have you ever seen a horrible parent who loves one child so much more than the others? Ever listen to their lame excuses? Really, it's disgusting. Almost as disgusting as the MSM...
Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along.
I question the timing of this article.
:o)

All we need is 1 of those "seriously corrupt Dem Senators" to resign in disgrace (I don't believe it either, they have no shame) and see the power swing back (provided he's replaced with a Rep somehow)
It'll go nowhere becasue the press won't pick it up... Remember Foley? He wrote creepy letters to pages.
A Dem in the same position was boinking pages... and the press?
Which one did the MSM think was worse? Foley? Yep - whenever the "R" is by a name, that's the one that's worst. And yeah, they had a lame excuse for not covering the dem - an excuse they bought.
Then again, the MSM tends to buy any excuse for themselves that shields them from the reality of their unfairness and bias.
The Dems will just shrug their shoulders, and let the perps ammend their reports and go on as if nothing happened, while the MSM spins it to look like the Republicans are witch hunting.
I'm confident one of them is Harry Reid. Having the Senate Majority Leader resign in shame would be delicious, but I have my doubts too.
Now the question, will anything come of it????
Connecticut - Dodd and Lieberman
California - Boxer and Feinstein
Florida - Nelson
Hawaii - Inouye and Akaka
Indiana - Bayh
Nebraska - Nelson
Nevada - Reid
North Dakota - Conrad and Dorgan
Rhode Island - Reed
South Dakota - Johnson
My guess is the list includes at least Harry Reid, Tim Johnson, Daniel Akaka, Chris Dodd (major Indian gambling interests in CT), Byron Dorgan, and Kent Conrad. Dodd is the new chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, and the Republican Governor Rell was just reelected in a landslide. I would be especially happy to see him get nailed, resign, and Rob Simmons be appointed to the Senate.
