Watch him admit that the 60 vote minimum was a bad idea. Timing is everything!

Looks like the Republicans are about to "assume the position". This should be no problem for the establishment as they've had so much practice.

Republicans need term limits just as badly as Democrats do. Trent Lott is living proof.

This is fine, he shouldn't have stepped aside the first time. I agree.
The dems are somewhat selective at who they go after with a fury and a vengence. Usually, highest on their hit list are those they fear: Newt, Tom Delay, Trent Lott.
After the charges are dropped against Delay, I would relish the thought of his leading a comeback in '08.

The Country Club Republicans are fully in control.

I agree, he did NOTHING wrong, EXCEPT apologize ad nauseam, for a compliment to a 100 year old Senator. The PC police took him out. Screw them.
By the way he GOT THINGS DONE MUCH better then Doctor Frist ever did and is a much better choice than Lamar Alexander!!

"The question is .. what the hell do we do now?"
I don't know. Move en masse to the Democrats and, coupled with the Blue Dogs form a majority and take over THAT party?
Form a third party?
Retire mentally from politics to spend more time with the family and church and our private lives?

Mel Martinez and Trent Lott are signs of sure winners I tell ya. It's telling the country that we want to compete.
To: jmc1969
If Lott is the best we've got, then we're going to be in the minority for a long time.
To: TomGuy
The Country Club Republicans are fully in control. Yep. They fully beielieve their loss last week was a fluke and they're not about to change a thing -- except for purging conservatives from the party.

I don't go to CNN's site. That's why I asked.
Lamar Alexander, huh? Well, I think perhaps Lott had the advantage in that he knows how the Senate works better than Alexander. Maybe this will work out ok, but how come people like Inhofe or Sessions never get nominated for positions lilke this?

Trent Lott is a US Senator from Mississippi. He is by no stretch of the imagination a rino.
I am also thrilled because for those that live on the gulf coast we might have some movement on this Insurance issues we face and come up with a future solution to this problem
