"Yes, but who is the party's #1? If it's Mitch McConnell, all right."
FNC reported Mitch is Minority Leader

Oh God, can the news get any worse?!? This guy is an embarassment.
Maybe he can propose his "pwer sharing" plan for the Senate. It worked out so well when he caved to Daschle.
Anyone have an image of him with that ridiculous hat on with the feather sticking out?

"I won't have a party at all." I've already come to that conclusion. I don't think there is a party for those who believe that the original ideals of America should be our guiding principles.
This Lott thing is kind of like a bad joke, but I imagine the Dems think it funny nonetheless.

I see your point, but it isn't exactly comforting that the vote was so close. It indicates that there is still a lot of resentment.
Also, how well will he work with McConnell and not try to tell him how things "really" should be done?
Plus, I still have my fear that Lott will get the talk show invites rather than McConnell.

Mitch McConnell was unanimously elected Minority leader.
The race between Lott and Alexander was for Minority Whip.

Everyone email Lott and tell him he better have grown some stones or else! I just did.

If a third party splits off the GOP, we need to call it the Pigkillers. This is insane. The GOP, instead of showing it heard the election results loud and clear, would rather get the largest share of pork from the smaller half of the pig now. This is NUTS. NUTS!

His opposition was Hedley Lamar Alexandar. The fix was in. What kind of party puts up a choice between a dufus and a pussy for #2?
Why, the STUPID Party, that's who!

Yeah. I think the bottom line is that Lott was chosen because he's a safe seat.

Hope you're right. We've needed some tough people up there for quite a while. Weakness cost the majority, it remains to be seen if they will be weak in minority...

Trent was bad. Frist was weak.
Just why is it, republicans seek weak leaders?
Just why do they repeat old mistakes?
I think I am seeing bribes in play. Too much undercutting by our own side. Something is quite smelly up there. Time we ferret it out.

After some of Lott's bitter trollish craving-GOP-defeat public statements, they are out of their minds to put him in leadership again.
To: jmc1969
After a catastrophic defeat, the Repubs make an incremental change in senate leadership. Message to base: business as usual.
In football terms, it's like the Arizona Cardinals bringing in a better punter and hoping that turns the team around.

Good. I thought Trent was petty bad as a leader....until Frist came alongI agree. Frist, IMO, wasted the 6 years of the Republican Senate majority.I hold him responsible for the out of control spending and not having the cojones to reign in Sen. Stevens and his "Bridge to Nowhere". That hurt the fiscal reputation of the Republicans as much as anything.
At least all Trent can say is, "I'm number 2!" A hollow victory for a hollow man.
