Unfit for Majority Leader
Washington Post ^ | 15 November 2006 | Ruth Marcus

Posted on 11/15/2006 4:41:17 AM PST by shrinkermd

The videotape is grainy, dark and devastating. The congressman and the FBI undercover agents -- the congressman thinks they represent an Arab sheik willing to pay $50,000 to get immigration papers -- are talking business in the living room of a secretly wired Washington townhouse.

Two other congressmen in on the deal "do expect to be taken care of," the lawmaker says. But for the time being -- and he says repeatedly that he might change his mind and take money down the road -- he'd rather trade his help for investment in his district, maybe a hefty deposit in the bank of a political supporter who's done him favors.

"I'm not interested -- at this point," he says of the dangled bribe. "You know, we do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested, maybe I won't, you know." Indeed, he acknowledges, even though he needs to be careful -- "I expect to be in the [expletive] leadership of the House," he notes -- the money's awfully tempting. "It's hard for me to say, just the hell with it...."

Thanks, but are you taking notes that it is still ALL BEING IGNORED on this thread? I'm sitting here shaking my head at the ignorance. And cursing just a tiny bit! ;*\

The msm needs to be held accountable for their arrogant bias.

Figure out HOW to do that, and you will go down in history.

Dont you believe the people who voted for Murtha knew about these charges?

They voted for him anyay. They got just what they wanted. A corrupt politician who pushes pork their way.
Those who voted for Murtha are as corrupt as he is. Thats why Democrats won power , all the rest is garbage.

The Washington Post wrote dozens of articles smearing Senator Allen over the "Macacca" comment but seemed unable to predict that Murtha intended to be rewarded with political power for his "cut and run" policy.

Now, they are shocked to discover a corrupt, venal and self-serving man is about to be the House Majority Leader.

I'm a little confused... Is Murtha only too corrupt, venal and self-serving to be House Majority Leader, but not too corrupt, venal and self-serving to be a Representative from Pennsylvania?

NO! How could they possibly know?
Was it reported 50 times per day by every media outlet for weeks on end?
Was it reported 1 time a day for 1 day by anyone other than the new media?
Reading the comments on this thread by "knowledgeable" FReepers that appear to think this information just came out today or yesterday or 2 weeks ago should have answered your question.

What a wonderfully insightful comment. Bush vs. the Fifth Column(s) (Dems, MSM, ACLU, etc.) is a forfeited match - Bush simply defaulted. Always, always take the Churchillian approach when dealing with evil.

Makes you wonder why the Post and other MSM didn't weigh in like this when the campaign was on. Is the man fit to serve in Congress?

Oh, that's right, he's a Democrat.

The President on down in this Republican party have been unwilling to fight these dem bastards.
He underestimated what a fifth column could do.

Yes and No! I read an article or speech from his early days as President last night. He was pretty hard on the Enemedia.

Bush vs. the Fifth Column(s) (Dems, MSM, ACLU, etc.) is a forfeited match - Bush simply defaulted.

How can you expect the General to lead the charge against the enemy, when there are no warriors behind him?

Name ONE Republican that stood beside, or behind to fight that fifth column. Most were smiling and kissing the buttocks of said column leaving President Bush to face the enemy alone.

He had other enemies to worry about that were targeting millions of American citizens, leaving little time to worry about the enemy within whose main concern was to destroy him. He chose us over self.

I don't believe that WaPo and others in the enemedia are running these pieces out of the goodness of their hearts because of new found corruption and unethical acts by Murtha, they remained strangly quiet about it before the general election.

Some faction high in the Rat party has come to the decision that Jack and possibly Nancy will be a detriment to the party and their personal ambitions and that faction is Bill and Hillary, IMO.

No wonder we lose elections, we never show up!

Although I agree with you that the GOP should be screaming about Murtha and many other democrat corruption, the way you state the above makes like we are losing every election when in reality we are winning much more elections than the democrats.

Who knows? I usually try to give the people the benefit of the doubt, but they must first be fully informed.

Dems will vote for anybody and he was an incumbent

So you are saying every dem voter in PA is as corrupt as their rep?

I see you live in PA. Do you live in the 12th District?
I do not see your name on the prestigious IREY ping list. Did you forget to follow this race?

the GOP should be have been screaming about Murtha and many other democrat corruption.....

for the past several years. Instead they were falling all over themselves apologizing for "macaca" and resigning over nothing and other absurdities

You and me both, it only reinforces the fact that the enemedia is still very strong in our country and the majority of them use their power to shape our future with their liberal agenda.

We have to expose their bias as diligently as we fight the liberal agenda of the Rats.
