Seven-Year-Old on Mission for His Mom-Lobbies Mexican Lawmakers to Prevent Her Deportation From U.S.

He's a serious 7-year-old on a mission to save his mom.
Four-foot-tall second-grader Saul Arellano, a U.S. citizen, was to stand before 500 members of the lower house of the Mexican Congress on Tuesday to plead for their help in lobbying Washington to stop the deportation of his migrant mother, who has taken refuge in a Chicago church.
His fight is being closely watched on both sides of the border: The result could set a precedent for more than 3 million children, like him, who are Americans born to at least one parent who is in the U.S. illegally.
While his mother, Elvira Arellano, stays inside the Adalberto United Methodist Church on Chicago's West Side, Saul has joined a months-long campaign on her behalf, speaking out from Los Angeles to Washington, where he handed a White House guard his letter to U.S. President George W. Bush.
"I want to stay with my mom in the United States," Saul said Tuesday, surrounded by cameramen and reporters in the Congress as he waited to speak to lawmakers.
Asked if he was nervous, he turned and buried his face in the lap of Emma Lozano, executive director of the Chicago-based immigration-rights group Centro Sin Fronteras, who accompanied Saul on the trip.

Notice how this "news article" is slanted towards the open borders side? Julie Watson probably received an award on the same day from Vicente Fox.

I find it extremely ironic that the son, the U.S. "citizen" is in Mexico, enjoying the benefits of mexican society, and the mother, an illegal alien that purposely had a child in the U.S. in order to gain legal residency status, is here in the U.S., enjoying the benefits (and legal protections) of the U.S...
I find it insulting, but ironic...

I can't believe that this still dragging on.
Why hasn't the minister in this church been arrested for harboring an illegal alien and this woman deported already.

This is child abuse. That child needs treatment for his cauliflower ears, not exploitation like this.

My God! She's still in that church?
How spineless and politically correct can law enforcement be? The last election proved that we, as a nation, are cowards, afraid to even taunt the god of political correctness.
Now, since we have proved that there are no Republicans with spines or cajones, and have replaced them with a new, and even more, sissy political power system in place, all is lost when it comes to law enforcement. As a matter of fact, the act of enforcing any law will be solely determined by how the subject enforcement will garner votes or reduce votes for the politicos.

The woman was using a phony social security number, as the article stated, so she certainly screwed up someone else's life. By the way the DBM paints her, you'd think she was Joan of Ark.

He is petitioning the wrong congress. Mexican politicians have no say in the matter.

Four-foot-tall second-grader Saul Arellano, a U.S. citizen... The author neglects to mention that the child of Mexican citizens is also a Mexican citizen. This little boy has DUAL CITIZENSHIP.
Deport the whole family. Little Saul can return to the US when he is 18.

I may have missed it, but I didn't see anything about a father - who and where is he? She didn't have this child by herself.

I wonder if the Mexican legislators are insulted by the idea that this Mexican national and her son will do anything to stay out of Mexico.

Not a bit. They're quite happy to send their poor to us before the poor get fed up with them and start rioting.
