The president, vice president, and some Cabinet members met with CEOs of US auto manufacturers. Video and text here.

He also met with Senator Mel Martinez, R-FL, who was recently named to be the new head of the Republican National Committee.

Stocks rallied, the Dow-Jones Industrial Average hit a record high today. The S&P ended at its highest point since November 2000. Oil and gold prices slipped. The NASDAQ ended at its highest point since February 2001.

No reason for you to leave, Jewels. You stated a preference. You did NOT run down our President.

Even when I disagree with Bush I would NEVER run him down, he is the BEST president this nation has ever had, and I dare say ever WILL, that does not mean he walks on water, nor do I expect him to.

You're spot on. Noone can be right 24/7. We musn't expect that of him, or he WILL disappoint us.

Is it true, as I read on another thread, that Steele is pro-choice and in favor of affirmative action? If it is true, perhaps this is the reason for by-passing him for the RNC post.

Oh no I don't think Nancy P took them. The dems could never be optomistic enough to love orange.

I'm still entirely positive about the character of our Commander in Chief, mystery.

Nothing has happened to change that.

I do fine when I stay among positive people.........like my husband. If that's the only company I keep for a while, that will have to be enough.

The President hasn't changed. His circumstances have necessitated adjustments, but he hasn't changed.

Sorry, but I just don't want to have to come to my only refuge and defend him here.

Don't want to be a downer to anyone else, so I really think it's best if I stay away tonight.

(I'll read your post, Deb. Thanks).

And thanks for putting up the Dose, Gretchen......

Just for the record, Mel is far more conservative than Michael.

I completely agree.....I think you misunderstood my post. Everybody is on edge. We are all worried what the Dems have in store for us and this country. Even our President is now in danger. He not only has the heavy burden of the WOT, he now is gonna have to fight off the rats at the same time.

We all love and respect the President here, there is no doubt in my mind about that.

Much love sweetie...

Hey Everyone,

You are all some of my favorite people around here and I hate to see you not getting along. I think we can all find strength in W's leadership right now. He is doing his best as always and I can't imagine how else he would go about things. We SHOULD keep him in our prayers to give him strength.

On the other hand, I like Michael Steele but had read some gossip regarding him being looked at for a different cabinet level position. (Plus it doesn't make sense for Mel to step down from a senate seat and risk it unecessarily when another election would have to be held to fill it under who knows what circumstances). W is still in charge of the GOP and I think Iraq can be turned around if Maliki is really saying what he means. Patience is called for here. Not fighting on the Dose. Or I'll tell mom on you too! :P

Have a good night ladies,

~E
