The president, vice president, and some Cabinet members met with CEOs of US auto manufacturers. Video and text here.
He also met with Senator Mel Martinez, R-FL, who was recently named to be the new head of the Republican National Committee.
Stocks rallied, the Dow-Jones Industrial Average hit a record high today. The S&P ended at its highest point since November 2000. Oil and gold prices slipped. The NASDAQ ended at its highest point since February 2001.
That is the first time I can remember no roses on the table
Maybe her perfume killed them LOL
I would have thought you would have needed more practice at this time or do you not do special events for Christmas
you still around
I think I'll take Beezy and orange balloon on my new toaster. ;*)
Yes...are you off duty?
Thanks for your encouraging words tonight hope college is going well.
yup gonna go hit the gym here about an hour.
That's always been the difference between America and Europe. American culture is rooted in individualism. We don't lock people into classes or groups. At least, not until recently. The Americans who want to have a group identity are often less successful than the ones who want to be considered as an individual.
Cultural groups are new to us, and I, for one, want to stamp them out.
Being in DC has made you cynical, ilovew! You need to get back to the boonies.
what kind of gym do they have there?
Great anaylsis and it is exactly the same in Britain as well.
And we have to go to our rooms.
Or, "don't make me come in there!"
Yeah, I know 'em all.
Hi..quick check in.. just got in & scanned the thread. One observation is that in the grief cycle (and is there ANY doubt we are all here in it?) there are varying ways people react & for different reasons based on the emotional filters in our life.
I agree with those who have urged patience, prayer & friendship here. We must stick together & pray for our leaders, support them with mail, email & hope.
I am sure POTUS is quite happy to put some miles between himself & DC at this time. The trip timing is good
Thanks for your great reads Deb & to you Gretchen for the Dose.
Love ya all! Need sleep.. been getting a LOT of it lately..
Eleanor, did you get my email this AM? It had a lot of large pix & I was thinking maybe your IT screens may have blocked it.
just like any gym you have in the states...
Nobody walks on water. (well, maybe one)
The only way to get absolute love is to die. I love Reagan but the Reagan some people talk about on this forum never existed.
The real Reagan compromised, took some stands we didn't like, and made some mistakes. None of which means he wasn't great. I just don't like it when some people use Reagan worship to diss our President.
***W needs our prayers now, more than ever.***
Amen, NordP.
GEM, Thanks for posting the Dose.
Ohio, Congrats to your son. God bless him for his service; past, present, and future.
I believe the fact that it was written last May makes it even more appropriate for today. Especially this part - losing in 06 to win in 08.
The entire thread, with it's embedded links, is worth reading. Don't miss the President's speech at White Hall, West Point and the UN.
