Draft Rudy Giuliani For President Begins Radio Ads in Key States
Committee To Encourage Former New York Mayor To Run For President In 2008 Airs First Ads In Iowa & New Hampshire
(Chicago, IL) One year after its formation, Draft Rudy Giuliani for President announced today that it has begun airing radio ads in Iowa and New Hampshire encouraging Mayor Giuliani to run for president in 2008.
"With the mid-term elections now over, Americans are already thinking about 2008," said Draft Rudy Giuliani spokesman, Allen Fore. "Mayor Giuliani has a demonstrated record of success and is exactly the kind of leader that people are looking for right now."
The sixty-second spot focuses on Mayor Giuliani's heroism after the events of September 11, 2001, and on his ability to cut through partisan politics in a divided Washington. The script of the ad reads, in part:
At times of crisis, Americans look to their leaders for strength, hope, and leadership. Five years ago, Americans looked to our president first, but we also looked to another man to help guide us through the darkness, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. He wasn't just the mayor of New York, he was America's mayor . . . Rudy Giuliani has shown us what it takes to lead in the toughest of circumstances.
As America begins to focus on who will be our next president, we want change. We want someone who will rise above partisan politics and get things done . . . Please join us in asking Rudy Giuliani to run for president of the United States. We need his steady hand and his steadfast leadership. Sign a petition to draft Rudy Giuliani for President at draftrudygiuliani.com. Draft Rudy Giuliani for President is a federal committee filed with the Federal Election Commission and cannot, by law, coordinate its efforts with Mayor Giuliani.
"This is an all-volunteer effort," added Fore. "The thousands of people who have signed our petition online at www.draftrudygiuliani.com have already shown us that there is strong support for a Giuliani candidacy. And we want to do everything we can to encourage Mayor Giuliani to run for president. American would be well-served by having Rudy Giuliani in the White House."
The mayor has stated publicly that he will make a final decision about a 2008 presidential bid either later this year or in early 2007. Just yesterday, it was announced that he has officially begun the process of exploring a run.

Let's lose this pre 9-11 mentality guys. Times have changed. Our first priority should be the war on terror. In Rudy, we have a guy who has been tested in the fire and he came out with flying colors. Yes, I have issue with him on some social items, but which among them are more important than the war on terror?
I'm amazed how everyone here keeps arguing as if 9-11 has no impact on how people will vote for the person who leads our war effort in the coming years.
I'm more concerned about terrorists aborting one of our cities than I am with Rudy being Pro choice. I'm more concerned about Iran and Iraq, than Rudy having a sense of humor and dressing like a woman to be funny.
When I look at the the other candidates as of now, Rudy's proven leadership surpasses all. Unless someone else comes along, who is a better bet?
As for those so foolish to not vote for Rudy if he gets the nomination and faces Hillary. All I can say is take a look at yourself in the mirror. You are picking your ideology over your country. How American is that? It's not, it's just disgraceful.
I always like Newt and think he would make a great president but it will never happen.
The reason why Rudy gets a pass and Newt doesn't in one word: Hypocrisy
Newt is a Social Conservative/Evangelic, and way too often they like to think and act like they are morally superior to everybody else when in fact more often than not they aren't. Now when they lecture us on morals and/or try passing Nanny State legislation for our own moral good and then they themselves for lack of a better word "sin" they come off as real hypocrites and outside of the Kennedy worshiping left, that's one thing that will turn voters off real fast.
See Bill Bennent for an example
Which makes him either ignorant or corrupt.
Rudy engenders passion already.
"MASS-2 FAC:
One of the few consertavies is the sea of liberals."
Dan! Are you turning us all into "consertavies?" And are THEY the "sea of liberals?" Who is MASS-2 FAC??? Somebody from Taxachewsetts who likes being #2 For A Change???
What the heck is happening to this illustrious website??? Ha Ha Ha!!! It's falling apart and being corrupted with NONSENSE!!! Ha Ha Ha!!! I've never seen anything like it since I began lurking in March 1998!!!
Haven't you guy always wanted to become CONSERTAVIES???
Now THAT's just "the ticket!"
NOT!!!
I don't really care if they have parades either or if Giuliani let them have a parade in NYC while he was mayor. IT DOESN'T AFFECT MY LIFE AT ALL!!! Its insignficant. Why do people harp on things that don't affect their own lives. I can't understand. Besides that, the POTUS doesn't have any power at all to stop gay pride parades or anything else. If people want to be gay and tell the world about it, nobody, including the POTUS or the federal government can stop it. Therefore, its totally irrelevant. POTUS, does however, have alot of power in foreign policy and as commander in chief and in this age we live in, that is very important. And on those issues, Giuliani is perfect.
"The heck of it is, they don't keep it in their bedrooms. They've basically been given a free hand to sexually harass children during school hours under the guise of "tolerance and diversity training". Until that stops, I fight everything they do and try to do and anybody that aids and abets."
Really? I haven't heard about gays sexually harassing children at school. All I've heard about lately is heterosexual women teachers taking indecent liberities with their underage students. Maybe we should ban them for our schools. I'm really just kidding on that but my point is made.
Sorry to hear that, but that was not the intent of my comment. I merely meant that the Arnold bootlickers who hang around here give us a bunch of valuable experience to take on the Giuliani troops that are presently mustering.
My experience is that conservatives vastly outnumber RINO, country-club, win-for-the-sake-of-winning, sycophants who hang around here on FR, and I have no arguments with the management.
I have to agree with Dan's post. If we don't stand for something, why are we here?
I also miss some of the freepers that you mention, but having witnessed many of their swan songs, I have to conclude that they wanted it to happen. It's been a long time since I can recall Jim banning anyone without reason. I offer his patience with the evolutionists in recent threads as evidence.
Tancredo has to be the guy for president in '08.
He's the only one that is 100% correct on the big ones.
Pure nonsense. The man is entirely too old
for military service. :~)
