A Question from a Webb Supporter

The announcement by McCain, who has put together campaign organizations in many of the states with early nominating contests, was widely expected. The intentions of Giuliani, who has been less active in early organizing, had been less clear.

Giuliani's campaign team said the committee was simply an opening move designed to keep his options open, with a final decision still to come.

"This filing affords him the opportunity to raise money and put together an organization to assist him in making his decision," Giuliani adviser Anthony Carbonetti said.

Are you denying that abortion happens as stated? If so how is it done? Especially partail birth abortion?

Our generals don't think we should leave. Our troops SURE don't think we should leave, but what do they know. They are just rubes stuck there.

Sort of like the "projected surplus" of the 90's, Clinton style.

If you track back through my comments in this thread you will see that I see two choices regarding Iraq: either leave or beef up with overwhelming force. I'm sold on neither - I want the best possible outcome given that we're there and you can't undo the past.

It was really nice the way it used to be when the neighbors gave their neighbor a helping hand when they were down. Of course back then, even the poorest of the poor didn't expecr 2 color tv's, 2 cars and a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house all provided by someone else. I guess I am in a crappy mood. Guess I'll go bury my head in the sand till 2008.

And someone who doesn't believe in a Christian God or who believes in some other God or no God at all? Is it OK in your world to impose the voice of "God" on their lives? And if God speaks for the unborn (or anyone else for that matter) doesn't He by far surpass the voice of mere men?

Just because someone doesn't believe in God doesn't mean He doesn't exist. I'm sure He doesn't condone abortion. In the Bible He warns people about hurting little children. But I am not trying to convert yoy. By all means, believe what you wish.

You have a degree in military science as well as economics and biology? :-}

We don't need more troops and we won't be leaving any time soon. Resign yourself to those facts Bandita.

Your personal beliefs may not be mine etc. and so forth and when it comes to issue like Choice, I'd rather people live their principles and not try to legislate them at all.

That, however, becomes a slippery slope if I decide that my own personal beliefs include the traditional Roman right of patria potestas

If you have a right to kill a perfectly viable 38 week gestation human prior to birth in a late term partial birth abortion, why should I not have the right to kill a perfectly viable 36 gestation human that was born slightly premature if I so desire?

And why not extend that right throughout the life of my child as Roman Republican law allowed?

Should society have no role in deciding whether a citizen has a right or not to exercise such "choices" based on "personal beliefs"?

Unemployment is not at 0%. Moreover, the unemployment rate itself, as reported, is deeply flawed on a variety of levels such that it doesn't provide an effective means of measuring actual unemployment in traditional terms. Couple that with a grossly misleading productivity rate, and the economic figures you hang your hat on fall apart.

This is a meaningless statement. You need to cite facts, actual data, to make your case on FR. We are serious, not frivolous here. You also will be challenged on your rhetoric, such as:

-Exactly how is the unemployment rate deeply flawed?
-Exactly what is the effective means of measuring by traditional terms?
-Exactly how and why is the productivity rate misleading?

Provide your sources for accurate, unflawed, traditional, non-misleading data.

If you can't, then withdraw your rhetoric and stick with your 'feelings'.

Ah... It's the EVIL sex that did it and now SHE MUST PAY!! I see.

I never said that. I said she didn't just "find herself pregnant." Actions cause results. Sex causes pregnancy. I do believe if you engage in behavior that causes results, then you have to take responsibility. Especially when the result is another human being. Theres always adoption. Lots of people want kids that their parents don't want.

I'm sorry but I just don't see the same America that you see. I see people who are happy and content with what they have. I see people who don't give up when they are down. Of course I don't live in a big city. But I do see a lot of people who feed off the government trough. Its a fact of life and its more than a few.

No of course not. I understand why she would have to have them take the baby. You said they were going to do "the procedure" and I said there is always c- section. It is a lot less painful for the baby but its like someone else said. The baby had to be born dead. If not it would be too much like murder.

I think President Bush did sign a ban on partail birth abortion but of course, the courts tie it up for years.

I see two options. Begin withdrawing troops and force the Iraqis to stand on their own, or finally and at last commit overwhelming force and troops to the effort to secure Iraq. I'm split either way - I don't in my heart believe that just leaving them to devolve into civil war is a responsible course of action, but I would need to see some competence in any plan to send the additional 250K troops McCain suggests.

I think this statement accurately represents the Democrat's consensus position on Iraq.

How convenient. Democrat's can not only criticize, but also demonize the twice-elected President of the United States, who went to war with the support of the Congress, after 17 UN Security Council resolutions, and the best they can come up with is to sit on the fence and not take a position.

Too bad the POTUS can't do that. He has to make decisions everyday, not waffle. The Democrats could have at least shown respect for that. They never did.

Well, now you have two of the the three handles of power, for the moment at least. Be careful what you ask for.

I have friends who were told by two doctors that they should terminate their pregnancy because the child had no chance for survival. They chose to carry the child to term. They gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy.

This happened to my daughter, too. She was told her baby was abnormal when she was 6 months pregnant and suggested abortion. She asked what was the chances of the baby being normal. The DR. said about 15%. She said she was going to have her baby anyway. That baby is now a beautiful blonde haired blue eyed highschool sophmore on the honor roll.
